At his press conference a few minutes ago, Obama whined Boehner wouldn't return his phone call this afternoon.
If Beohner is vane, then you post is true, and I believe he is vane. He never would have done this 10 years ago. The pressure today is intense, the tea party matters, and we’re going to win. He has to survive. He can’t be the go along guy to get along guy anymore. He’s going to change because he has to. We can manipulate these guys. They are not our guys, and we need to remove them, that’s the next battle. At least we got Boehner talking the talk.

If Bohner hadn’t given us reason to go off on him regularly, we wouldn’t. But he does. The result of that is the problems we all now suffer. He has the power to end this nonsense by exercising his power and the power of congress. He does not.
This is an easy problem to solve Constitutionally. Do not give in to an increase in tax or debt under any circumstances.

Same here, Al B. I have been sorely disappointed with Boehner most of the time. However, I am encouraged that he has not caved so far. And, as you say, he has a big class of freshmen who have not been Beltwayized yet and must be putting some real heat on him.
Got my fingers crossed the Republicans will hold firm. If they do, it could set up a massive win for conservatives next year.

As Mark Steyn said today, with all those hundreds of White House aides “helping” him night and day, he has put forth nothing. Not even a few notes you could write on a napkin. Just the usual class-warfare rhetoric and confusion.
We could easily go into default at this rate. Whether it's out of malice or just from sheer stupidity, we have a president who refuses to get serious and lead the country.
