The Democratic-controlled Senate on Friday narrowly voted to block a Republican measure that would force Congress to pass a stringent balanced budget amendment and cap spending before increasing the debt ceiling.
The legislation, a conservative priority, never had a chance of passing, but the strictly partisan 51-46 vote to table the Cut, Cap and Balance bill highlighted the partisan divide in Washington over how to tackle spending and raise the nations $14.3 trillion debt limit.

I doubt there are three other Senators with more federal employees and retirees in their states than them.
Why should it be so hard to get it before the eyes and ears of the people of this country that Standard and Poors said that CCB would be the ticket to avoid a downgrade? That’s like having a court ruling in your favor.
Thanks BfloGuy.
The approach to take is, “Harry Reid and Zero are responsible for this failure to act in a bipartisan way, and obviously prefer to withhold Social Security pension payments.”

NAILED it!!
Ha. You don’t EVEN want to know what I witness in the hospitals nowadays as an RN.
That same old woman (or old man, or young man or woman) - she DEMANDS that I bring her food, drugs (and I mean the kind that make you feel reeeeallly fine ...) and basically kiss her big fat behind all day long or “she’ll SUE!!” If the hospital food isn’t good enough, packs of “relatives” usually show up with boxes of fried chicken for them to gorge on, meanwhile her blood sugar sky rockets and her blood pressure can’t be controlled, and she gains 10 pounds overnight and the whole lot of them then proceed to order me around, get them sodas, chairs, etc.
You’re paying for THIS, too — you just don’t see it as much.
Can’t we skip all of this falderal and get right into CWII?
Damn the DemoNazis to Hell!
Gang of Six Deal that they are working on will raise taxes by 6 Billion over ten years, because they set an escalating baseline.
The media won’t give them air time for THAT message. That’s how they play the game.
I have a plan. What if each state had a day where every patriotic citizen who can, arrives in Washington D.C. that said day and demonstrates on The Hill and at the WH with their US, Gadsden, State flags and signs. Start say, on September 1st, Alabama; September 2nd, Alaska; September 3rd, Arizona;, etc, and just keep rotating them until the election! If you can't make your state's first date, make plans down the road to be there the next time or the time after.
I like your plan but perhaps I have a better one based on your idea. Forget the US Congress and President, it is hopeless. No, instead organize a secession rally at every single state house. Get us the hell out of this perverted Union!
The GOP just needs to get out in front of it and explain their position properly which up til now they have not done.
Frankly having Boehner call in to Rush everyday with an update is not a bad idea.
I’d say the country has just about had enough of these fascist Obama plutocrats. THe politics of yet abnother fakse crisis are upon us, and the GOP had better not cave. A default will do one thing , drive up short term interest rates and derate US T Bills. I have no trouble with either, it will curb government borrowing.
BRING ON THE DEFAULT.If the Dow falls 2000 points, take a clue from SOROS, his hedge fund is 60% in cash, waiting to buy falsely depressed stocks on the cheap.WORD.
EFF YOU OBAMA! Take cut, cap and balance, or take nothing at all.
Social Security comes from the payroll tax that is taken out of your paycheck every month. It is not derived from general revenues and that money has to be used to pay the SS. Social Security has specific bonds that it can sell and currently there are some billions in bonds available if needed. Enough to fund SS for several months. The President cannot just stop paying the social security checks. He can talk about doing it but he can’t do it.
I like your idea. Maybe it's because I'm getting older but the escalation of Big Government keeps going exponential and the 'usual' ways of dealing with it, i.e., elections feels like just more rinos and business as usual. Something radical is going to have to happen or our Sacred Republic will be no more.
