"A lot of the spending cuts that we're making should be around areas like defense spending as opposed to food stamps," President Obama told in an interview with NPR.
"What is true is that given the rising number of seniors and given the huge escalation in health care costs, that if we don’t structure those programs so that they are sustainable, then it’s going to be hard for the next generation to enjoy those same kinds of benefits. And so we are going to have to make some modest changes that retain the integrity of the program, but make sure that they’re there for years to come. And that’s not even just a deficit problem, that’s a step that even if we were all Democrats up here on Capitol Hill, we’d have to start making to make sure the integrity of those programs are preserved," Obama also said in the interview.

I assert that “discretionary spending”, especially that spending that is done to support the bureacracy and all its inefficiencies and redundancies is simply another form of welfare, if not outright reparation spending.
The really stupid part about this is that about 35% of our military forces are on food stamps themselves....cut the military budgets and soon you’ll hit the soldier’s pocket books and they can’t afford the food stamps!!!
The decline of the US started under FDR with SS and went on steroids under LBJ with Medicare and Medicaid, suppplemented by Bush with his expansion of Medicare to include Prescription Drugs, and culminated with Obamacare which will be the final straw. The welfare state is the cause of our decline.
So cut our defenses when the filty ass parasites that wont work and pump out kids and live off welfare can keep on milking us into oblivion? The founders would be shooting by now. I’m fed up to be honest.

me being always in a hurry, I usually pack my own groceries( or at least help the cashier). I notice that many people do this. Except I have never seen a food stamper help. I n fact they stand like a diva waiting for the cashier to do it all.

Well for starters....he’s refused to cut the number of active duty forces or bases (now in 120 countries), and given the generals a surge (far more than Bush ever asked for) in Afghanistan.
Yes and he’s cut our nukes, The F-22, our entire manned space program (shuttle and constellation). So are you an obama bot now? Let me guess whats next to be cut ...our subs, more nukes, carriers and any other defense the US has against china russia or any major hostile power....

Paradoxically, I think his Afghanistan surge was just a ploy to justify withdrawl. He can say, “See, I surged just like Bush” whenever he needs political cover. And, of course, the withdrawl has begun regardless of whether the mission is accomplished.
By the end of his term, or very soon after, Afghanistan will have a Taliban government and Iraq will be an Iranian province.
