Bachmann Releases Doctor's Note on Migraines as Pawlenty Says Candidates Must Be Able 'To Do All of the Job, All of the Time' ABC News' Matthew Jaffe (@matthewbjaffe) reports from Indianola, Iowa: When Republican presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty descended on Iowa today, both faced questions about whether or not Bachmann's migraines would impede her from doing the job of president. Meanwhile, Bachmann issued a letter from the Attending Physician of the U.S. Congress arguing that Bachmann's migraines occur "infrequently and have known trigger factors of which you are aware and know how to avoid." The letter, from the Dr. Brian Monahan, the top doctor for Congress, is addressed to Bachmann and reads: "When you do have a migraine, you are able to control it well with as-needed sumatriptan and odanestron. It has not been necessary for you to take daily scheduled medications to manage thi condition." Monahan further clarifies that Bachmann has "not needed medical attention" from his office regarding her migraines "with the use of the above mentioned commonly used therapies."

Here's guessing if it was your candidate, you'd be saying just the opposite.
I’m saddened by this, because this was one heck of a candidate. She needs to step aside. She will NOT get my vote.
Who do you support?
She’s taken a hit in the HotAir Green Room poll, back down to 10%.

Are you kidding me? He would ridiculed for having the gall to offer a lowly position unworthy of her accomplishments.
I totally agree. And it doesn’t even have to be said petulantly or snarkily. Just say “Along with many others I’ve been fascinated by the incredible and unprecendented media bias that has taken place since 2008. I have decided that to make sure the political playing field is even I will only answer questions that have been asked of President Obama. I will ask to see the documented proof that the president has been asked this question by a person in the media and then once I have made that confirmation, I will promptly answer your query.”
Wow lots of “if’s” around here. The note released by her doctor doesn’t indicate she gets these on a regular basis. But not surprising the MSM (and others) would assume it to be true. Of course the Daily Caller is more reputable than the top congressional doctor.
Not sure whether it was a good idea to answer this. I suppose though, she did in the best way she could with the doctor’s letter.
She shouldn’t speak of it again. ....Ever
I agree. Folks apparently didn’t read the article linked at Drudge which said she had been taken to an ER in Los Angeles because of a migraine. Any number of routine stressors could take her out of action.
She would make a superb Speaker of the House though!
So anyone who gets migraine headaches, even if they’re infrequent is disqualified for running for president? Should Dick Cheney then not have been VP with all his health issues?
Our “representative” is brain-damaged, literally, and on vacation until her term expires in 2012 and she scores even more lifetime millions. The staff, her husband, and the compliant media all have done some tricks with mirrors to make it seem like she’s cognisant and that we don’t need a rep anyway.
Yet, let’s (the Left) pick on Bachmann....
that’s just the point with migraines.. there ARE a lot if “ifs”... you can go for years without them.. and then bam! you get a series of 7 of them within a 2 week period.
the drugs are debilitating, at least for 2 members of my family. check on the migraine forums on this.. the drug knocks out the headache, but it also zaps you with various side effects, like fatigue, inability to concentrate, sensitivity to light.
I do understand that everyone is different.. but migraines are no small matter.. they totally wreck any given day that you have them.
It’s a darn shame. Sorry but in my opinion that’s a deal breaker.
Indeed it did. It rendered him totally incapable of being able to cut spending or balance a budget.
Wow, so migraines are OK for Speaker of the House, but not for president. Not sure I follow that logic. How do we know what was reported on Drudge, Daily Caller, Politico, etc. is true? Or do you think we need to assume the worst?
” Im already seeing it now on this thread.”
Yeah....
Thanks ejdrapes.
On second thought, say, CLINTON. Took the same medication and no one said a word. Let him open his records to prove it.
She’s not disqualified. She just has to prove to voters that’s it’s not an issue. That probably means that she better not suffer a serious attack during the campaign. She has current or former staffer(s) who is (are) making an issue of it. We don’t know if it’s for personal reasons or out of concern for the country.
She can’t argue that since Obama hasn’t released his medical records that she won’t either. Might be unfair, but she’s the challenger. Incumbency has its benefits.
