GOP Tycoons voted for Obama; disagreed with Palin being on GOP Ticket - Vanity
Politico ^ | July 20, 2011 | no dems

In my referenced source, Gov. Chris Christie of NJ met recently in Manhattan with some business tycoons who were trying to persuade him to run. The next to the last paragraph states that several said that "they are Republicans, but voted for Barack Obama in 2008 because they disagreed with having Sarah Palin on the GOP ticket."

What is frickin' wrong with people? Has this nation gone nuts. I know a college-graduate banker who voted for Obama because he did not like the way Sarah Palin said: "You betcha."

Psycho-FREEP: One Palin is worth more than a million of these spineless bankers and snobbycrats in GOP drag. They did not make America great. Their distant ancestors may have made America great but they only inherited the trust funds. They made their trust funds greater at everyone else's expense. The greedy spineless pigs need to be destroyed. They have no "entrepeneurial spirit" just social and class connections that allow them to farm the rest of us.

There is absolutely nothing to be gained by defending the grotesque privileges of the pampered American community and everything to be gained by breaking them. It was the privileged who gave Connecticut its very first income tax on wages and salaries under Lowell Weicker when he bribed them with cuts in investment and sales taxes. Never forget!

They also think it is some sort of crime if their little Muffy cannot abort their inconvenient grandchildren or their little Skipper cannot hope to rump range Bruce and call it tax-subsidized "marriage."

If you like soviet analogies, try this one. There was a 37-year-old Afghan dictator named Najibullah who was backed by the soviets. When, inevitably, his privileged lifestyle and soviet supporters caused Afghanistan to vomit him out, he was gunned down and his corpulent corpse was hanged in a major public square in Kabul until it exploded in the summer sun. Populism is NOT, in and of itself, a bad thing. If anything, quite the contrary.

If the privileged airheads are going to wage class warfare upon the American people, where is it written that we have to respond by limply crooning Kumbaya?

Lest I forget: You betcha!!! A great reason to support Palin is that she pisses off these airheads and snobbycrats.

I know what you mean and believe you. But my question is this,, i feel EXACTLY the same about east coast republicans from that city culture. Don’t like em,, don’t trust them. So why are THEY never lectured that they will need to work hard to overcome MY preconcieved notions?

In the case of Christie, Mitt, and other Rinos like them,,,im always lectured about how im the problem because i won’t look at how awesome they would be.
But Sarah is told that she must somehow win them over, they aren’t expected to “get over it” the way i would be with Mitt or Christie.
Interesting little difference,,,

I’d never vote for any ticket that included Allen West. He’s as cowardly as the rest of the GOP.

I agree there is a distinct double standard there. IMO the reason the East Coasters don’t feel obliged to accomodate the views of flyover country, while demanding that flyover country accomodates them, is their inherent sense of intellectual superiority to flyover country rubes. Keeps them from ever perceiving their double standard.

One of the females actually said to me with a straight face, "I like Palin's politics, but I hate her voice. It's too screechy."

Margret Thatcher had the same voice issues during her early years in Parliment. She knew it and worked on her voice and delivery over the years.

Many in the lower 48 assume if one has a strong regional accent, you must be some kind of hick. They won't vote for a hick.

Yes, and it’s also true that a lot of “folksy people” don’t really trust or like the east coast mentality/persona. Yet,,, they seem to think that we should support them without reservation. So i don’t give a tinkers damn if they don’t like “you betcha” or the fact that Sarah hunts and fishes.
I don’t see much difference between Obama and Mitt,,or even Christie for that matter,,,

F them,,,

If they voted for BO, they aren’t really GOP now, are they.

ANd im the same way about Mitt and Christie. Im a “no vote” on those two. No matter how much bitching, name calling, whining, and snot blowing their supporters engage in,,,I’m still a no-vote.

So it appears to be Mexican stand off,,,doesn’t it?

Wouldn’t just piss them all off if she ran third party? I’d love to see Rove in a red-faced rage.

<-- Last Tycoon I've heard about

Seems like an out of place term. Remember railroad tycoons in the 1800's

“They are moderates (read wishy washy) and believed all of the MSM stuff about Palin”

Welcome to the Media-Centric world in which we now live.

He who controls the media, controls the message. PERIOD. And don’t be fooled by anyone screaming “but, the NEW MEDIA!”, it doesn’t have the penetration the boob tube has.

It’s how a woman who looks like Casey Anthony gets attacked in a Walmart.

It’s how Soros can conjur a Soviet-Style Show trial of Rupert Murdoch.

It’s how Barck Obama got elected.

Seriously folks, how much more proof do you really need, in a world where the MAJORITY of Males under 35 use THE DAILY SHOW as their primary news source?

You mean regional accent like Clintons, Carter’s, or Bush I and his blue blood accent? Bush II had an accent and we alll sat there praying he would just say what we knew he meant as he sounded like a head injury victim. Oh,,, and Obama and his accents,, Perfect arabic accent saying muslim words,, a black ghetto accent,, a black evangelist accent,, an odd Redd Foxx impersonation in public forums when he has to shout someone down, (na na na na ,,na na,, listen) and then he switches back to a harvard accent sometimes too.

Yea,, Americans will never vote for funny accents./sarc

On a personal note, she is the inspiration for my daughter’s name, which is Sophie. My husband and I were going to name her Sarah, but with a last name of Lee she would have ended up sounding like a loaf of bread.

Too bad, you forgot, the Sarah Lee people sold a lot of cake and got a lot of good mileage out of their jingle and the fact that:

"Nobody doesn't like Sarah Lee!"

“So, the way Obama whistles through his teeth when he is speaking didn’t bother the guy?”

Or, apparently, his incessant use of his favorite words: “I”, “Me” and “My”.

“We will have mc2 with mutt.”

Of course mc1 was able to beat mutt in the primary, so forecasting a mc2 for mutt might be overly optimistic.
