GOP Tycoons voted for Obama; disagreed with Palin being on GOP Ticket - Vanity
Politico ^ | July 20, 2011 | no dems

In my referenced source, Gov. Chris Christie of NJ met recently in Manhattan with some business tycoons who were trying to persuade him to run. The next to the last paragraph states that several said that "they are Republicans, but voted for Barack Obama in 2008 because they disagreed with having Sarah Palin on the GOP ticket."

What is frickin' wrong with people? Has this nation gone nuts. I know a college-graduate banker who voted for Obama because he did not like the way Sarah Palin said: "You betcha."

Well-stated, and right on target.

This is just to discourage Sarah Palin not enter into race and let Mitt gets nomination.
Let me add, I got interested in GOP after Palin entered into race.

From your tagline I take it you live in Oklahoma. I’ve lived there and I now live in PA. You really can’t understand the East Coast Republican mindset until you experience them firsthand. I don’t think this article is that far off base.

Why do so many people, including “so-called” Republicans, hate Sarah Palin? SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND.

“Who the hell cares who some rich bastard in NYC votes for last time around. Their electoral votes are already long lost.”

This is a money issue. McCain was outspent $228m to $741m by Obama. More money means more airtime to hammer home your message to voters. McCain made a major mistake in deciding to go with public financing:

“Arizona Senator McCain, unlike Obama, accepted $84.1 million in public financing for the general election, a decision that barred him from raising money privately. Obama outspent him by a 4-to-1 margin from Sept. 1 through Nov. 24, FEC records show.”

This was against a seriously charismatic candidate. Whatever McCain’s virtues, the guy was a lousy strategist - to win against a good campaigner, you need to outspend him if possible, not spend 1/4 of what he does.

Of course they are.

The thing these so-called ‘GOP Tycoons’ are most afraid of is for some upstart yahoos to upset their long established the racket. The seif-annoited American royals.

And that is why the PEOPLE need to tear these people down.

What you say is true, but it’s also true that a lot of women don’t like pretty women and many non-folksy people didn’t like the youbetcha and the winking.

I'll try.

The average East Coast pubbie (not all, some are good conservatives) feels more affinity for his Dem neighbor who also went to the same East Coast schools than he does for someone from Alaska who hunts and ran a fishing boat. Not that he has a problem with running a fishing boat, mind you, but Sarah and Todd Palin's proper role in life is to stay on that boat and put salmon on his plate, not run the country. He'd rather have some Ivy Leaguer running the country even if it is a Democrat. Doesn't put his view of the proper order of society out of place, you know.

Hope that helps.

So, the way Obama whistles through his teeth when he is speaking didn't bother the guy?

You do not want to understand you want to bitch, the polls have said for the last three years 25 % of the republicans have a no vote view of Palin. All of the bitching and name calling and whining and snot blowing by her supporters has not moved that number. And before you start the name calling again, remember rush has said the same thing, and he just does not understand it, but it is a fact.

Maybe they would change their mind if Obama’s educational records were ever released. So far, it is all a mystery.

Well, given what Obama has done as president, if they are presented with Palin versus Reagan as their choice, I think the vast majority would end up voting for Palin this time around - just as many of them didn't like Reagan but after Reagan beat Poppy Bush in the primary, the choice was between him and Carter.

Obama was a charismatic unknown in 2008. In 2012, he will be an albatross. Big, big difference.

However, in 1980 they voted for Reagan anyway because the alternative was Mr. Peanut, just as this year the alternative will be Mr. Just Plain Nuts.

We'll see what happens. I think Palin is hated more than Reagan since Reagan has already proven they were wrong. Most people don't remember when Reagan was running or are just plain lazy and love the scandal sheets.

". . . they are Republicans, but voted for Barack Obama in 2008 because they disagreed with having Sarah Palin on the GOP ticket."

I've a question (it will go unanswered, but I'll ask it anyway). To the "tycoons": Why? Will you state in clear and concise language why you did what you did? Specifically why did you disagree with Mrs. Palin being on the gop ticket?

OK....it's three questions...but still....

.......help me understand.......

She just has one of those rare demeanors and personalities that engenders either extreme love or hate. I guess you could say the same about Obama. If you believe no explanation is necessary, if you disbelieve no explanation will suffice.

[And that is why the PEOPLE need to tear these people down.]

Don't worry, with Obama’s help, you will get your wish. Populists like yourself envy success and don't understand why we need Capitalism and the entrepreneurial spirit.

Instead, you demagogue those who make this country great and want them destroyed. This is exactly how the Soviet Union came about in the early 1900’s. You must be proud that this is happening again, to the greatest society ever made.

So it has absolutely nothing to do with philosophy? These people are serious freakin' morons. "I like the commie over the freedom lover because he doesn't say 'You Betcha'". Lord help us all.

Apparently Palin pissed off a lot of the “Country Clubbers” in Alaska which spread nationally.

A breath of fresh air will come when politicians, who resist the temptation of becoming compromised, are elected.
