House Speaker John Boehner is turning up the heat on President Obama, calling the debt-ceiling increase "his problem" and putting the onus on him to present a deficit-reduction plan that can pass Congress.
Republicans in both chambers had tough words for the administration ahead of another White House sit-down Tuesday afternoon. On the Senate floor, GOP Leader Mitch McConnell accused the president and his party of "deliberate deception."
The comments may reflect increasing pressure from rank-and-file Republicans to press for deeper spending cuts and not cave in to the administration's call for tax hikes.

Obama will fold and then claim he didn't and move on. Don't expect any epiphany from Odumbo the Magic Mulatto. The MSM will cover for him and only the hardcore left will have their panties in knot that they cam real close further Marxism deconstruction. Obama gave the Republicans a gift. There used to be a old Reagan era axiom that get the Democrats talking on taxes and you got them.
Keep on keeping on Boehner, you are getting someplace
You are so desperate for the GOP to fail that you will believe anything negative.
Yeah, and in December all those people who said McConnell and Boehner would cave and end the Bush tax cuts were proved right!
Oh hey, wait a minute...
of course that “could” happen, but there is nothing in that link to Redstate that is substantive. It’s just hearsay and rhetoric.
Of course, again, we know from history that it “could” happen.
But if the GOP caves, then not only will Obama be re-elected, but the GOP will ensure the rise of a (small, but very damaging to the GOP) third party.....I think the pols know that, and since the only thing that motivates them is their jobs, I don’t look to them to cave. (But we’ll see).
How much did you stock up for Y2K back in the day...because you are far too easily fooled by internet drivel.
I wish it were mine, your Majesty. FReeper STARWISE gave it me to post.
“(Problem is, Obama knows that if he caves the the House GOP he will lose re-election. But I think I am starting to see what Rush and others have been saying....Obama is going to lose no matter what, and this weeks events are merely clarifying that).”
And Boehner “caving” will only insure that both Obama AND Boehner will lose their relection bids, despite the MSM talking points predicting a Obama win in that circumstance.
I doubt they understand the principle involved, but as long as they take the right actions, OK.
And Boehner caving will only insure that both Obama AND Boehner will lose their relection bids, despite the MSM talking points predicting a Obama win in that circumstance.”
I’m not so sure...I think a Boehner cave might well hand a victory to Obama, in the same way a Bush cave on “no new taxes” gave the Democrats victory on that point, AND gave the White House to Clinton (via Perot, obviously, but still).
Bottom line, though, I really think the GOP has the better poker hand here.
“Bottom line, though, I really think the GOP has the better poker hand here.”
No arguement there......I do too! They just need the stones to play it!
All the GOP needs to do to “put the screws to him” is to STAND FIRM.
