In a strongly worded legal brief, the Obama administration has said the federal act that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman was motivated by hostility toward gays and lesbians and is unconstitutional.
The brief was filed Friday in federal court in San Francisco in support of a lesbian federal employee's lawsuit claiming the government wrongly denied health coverage to her same-sex spouse.
The Justice Department says Karen Golinski's suit should not be dismissed because the law under which her spouse was denied benefits the Defense of Marriage Act violates the constitution's guarantee of equal protection.
"The official legislative record makes plain that DOMA Section 3 was motivated in large part by animus toward gay and lesbian individuals and their intimate relationships, and Congress identified no other interest that is materially advanced by Section 3," the brief reads, referring to the section in the act that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman.
Though the administration has previously said it will not defend the marriage act, the brief is the first court filing in which it urges the court to find the law unconstitutional, said Tobias Barrington Wolff, a law professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

I think TheOldLady has it right. When we get these, instead of replying copy the FReepmail and send it to Ad Mod. Don’t feed their craving for attention. The reason I posted his/her series of FReepmails on this thread is because he/she wanted it kept confidential and there was no way I was going to comply. I wanted them in the open. But I also FReepmailed Jim Rob in my reply to her.
You can see it written on their faces. From deep down in their souls they know its morally wrong and no govt. decree could ever legitimize lesbo unions to the Almighty One.
Beauty starts from deep within and lesbos dont have it there to begin with. Just sayin.....
They don’t care about being “married.”
What they care about is attacking—by any means possible—those religions that make them feel “queer” in society.
The problem they don’t understand, however, is that they will always feel “queer” even if society completely embraces them.
Because they are bucking against the boards not of Christians and of Judeo-Christian morality and traditions, but against the boards of nature and God.
I am afraid Obama and his administration IS America’s judgment.
Could be, could be......

We must make Him pay for this decision.
Fixed.
“Im a woman and even I have to ask: Why are there no hot lesbians?”
Well, it’s probably all about the need to look sort of like a man. Which for women, especially lesbians, often means putting on some weight. I have noticed that even for feeling the need to avoid the opposite gender, plenty of them sure put a lot of effort into resembling the opposite gender in simple ways. Perhaps it’s because they actually have traces of something in them.
Obamas relatives did nothing to end slavery.
Even worse than that. The Middle East continued trading slaves from Africa up until the turn of the 20th century, way after the United States banned imported slaves by law.
Atheists didnt free slaves or end virgin sacrifices by the Aztecs and Mayas.
Exactly, and the part that irritates me the most about politically correct re-writes of history. Native American tribes killed each other. Aztecs gathered thousands of human sacrifices annually. I don’t know how many, but in the end, they made the mistake of not killing an enemy who hated them and would help Cortez out as a mistress, named Malinche.
Well, personally, I hope Jean-Jacques Rosseau gets to share some room in the afterlife with an Aztec, and see how “noble” his so-called “noble savages” really are.
