John McCain and Sarah Palin have long insisted things are all good between them, even after their losing 2008 presidential effort wound up with a nasty bout finger pointing between loyalists to the two former running mates. But the family members of both candidates are not being so publicly amicable.
As ABC News's Sheila Marikar reports, Bristol Palin trashes the McCain clan in her new upcoming memoir, "Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far."
It's unclear from Marikar's report whether the 20-year-old Palin daughter e specifically mentions her mother's running mate, her book does slam McCain's wife, Cindy, for acting like "royalty" and accuses the senator's 26-year-old daughter, Meghan, of being a snobby whiner.
Palin writes that she had a "sneaking suspicion I might need to watch my back" the first time she met Meghan McCain. She says the senator's daughter "ignored" the family during their first meet-and-greet and always seemed to be judging them.
"Every time we saw Meghan, she seemed to be constantly checking us out, comparing my family to hers and complaining," Bristol Palin writes. "Oh the complaining."
Cindy McCain, Palin writes, looked like a "queen" and conducted "herself like royalty." "I'd never seen people with so much Louis Vuitton luggage, so many cell phones, and so many constant helpers to do hair and makeup," Palin writes.

“My Journey So Far”? LOL.
No one gives a damn what you think. She has a right to write a book. You do to, but you’re uninteresting and have no standing, apparently.
“It says something about the limited horizons of Bristol Palin’s life that she found meeting a rich family such a shock. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. “
yes after all only the elites are qualified to be our elected leaders.
Amazing how a Palin thread will bring out the trolls like you, isn’t it?
She was probably begged to write this book by people wanting to make money.
Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t see any problem with this.
However, I do know that within 3 to 6 months, my bank account balances will be a little more or a little less than they are today.
I suspect that within 3 to 6 months, young Palin will be a millionaire.
With that kind of pocket change, she just might make it in this world... maybe even reach the apparent astronomical financial level of those that would damn her for her effort.
I want to know how long it will be before Piper releases her first in a series of children’s books.
I was fortunate enough to be a middle class kid going to a VERY swanky private k-8 Catholic school in San Francisco, sited in a brick mansion overlooking Alcatraz. The families of these kids were the haute culture of The City. Their kids were the most vicious, anti-Semitic, racist, snotty brats you've ever met (and that's not just my opinion). The experience cured me of ever having aspirations of being "one of them." Not that I despise being wealthy mind you, but it became clear to me that the doers, the people who made it big on their own, are an entirely different group.
That child should keep her mouth shut, go back to high school to earn a diploma and stay out of the limelight.
You’re right Dawn.
Everything about it is tabloid trash. Ick.
Reminds me of this video from comedian Brian Regan. Forward to about 2:40:
Brian Regan: I walked on the Moon
I had the opposite experience with the other side of the spectrum. A few weeks ago, I attended a birthday party for a little girl where there were only welfare moms in attendance. Believe me, that will make you feel out of place too. I'd consider us to be lower middle class Wal-Mart type shopping family, but that was a little bit of a culture shock for me.
Do you think mama put her stamp of approval on this? I can’t imagine her doing so, but different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Bristol’s new face? Come on...all she did was lose a few pounds.
Wow. Sexist, elitist and jealous all at the same time. Bravo! I notice most of the posters that have a problem with Bristol are women. Boy, the claws come out quick for Ms. Palin.

I followed the McCain campaign in the primaries for 8 days thru SC and FL. Bristol is on the mark with her observations of the McCains, especially the wife and daughter. They acted like they were doing us a favor by giving us the privilege of voting for McCain who was a disaster on the stump. Cindy was a lesser version of Jackie Kennedy. Stiff, cool, robotic, she appeared uncomfortable interacting with the masses.
I read somewhere that most young people get their news from Jon Stewart. It's beyond pitiable. So much for universal public education.
Cindy McCain, Palin writes, looked like a "queen" and conducted "herself like royalty." "I'd never seen people with so much Louis Vuitton luggage, so many cell phones, and so many constant helpers to do hair and makeup," Palin writes.
LOL, go Bristol!
Good for her, I hope she makes lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Better than being a hypocrite!
Levi was pummeled for talking trash about the Palins, but Bristol is just a sweet little darlin’ no matter what she does?
Gimmee a break!
