“Then there are crocodile tears for blacks, Hispanics, and youth. The truth is, if an individual wants to vote, and he or she is legally qualified to vote, all one has to do is check out the procedures in advance by a call to elections officials in his district and follow the simple steps they may require (e.g., get a photo ID) in order to vote. It doesn’t depend on race or ethnicity or age, it depends on maybe doing a little extra chore in order to make the election fairer to all concerned.”

The subtext of the crocodile tears is that EJ Dionne believes that blacks, hispanics and youths are too stupid and/or lazy to take those extra efforts, thereby proving that libtards are actually the biggest racists around.

Move to Palm Beach County and you’re good to go.

Biggest kicker will be for the GOP when the Dems start losing by larger margins in states that require photo ID/etc. It opens the door to possible past losses due to fraud. Our nation and the will of the people were subverted by Dem fraud tactics. Imagine how our nation would be today if the GOP won the past elections. The Dems will try to use these losses as proof of voter suppression of minorities and poot, the GOP better have their facts lined up to prove that the elections were cleaner and Dems may have committed fraud in the past!! For starters, GOP controlled counties should cross reference list of registered voters with other sources to determine who is dead or illegal immigrant. Have these names annotated so the election official can make a note that someone showed up and voted under that name. The ballot should immediately be pulled and held as data to prove how many fraud votes went to which party. Build a case that many dead or illegal voters voted for the Dems. When the GOP fail to implement such simple evidence building programs to counter Dem cheating it creates an impression that the GOP is involved with the same type of shenanigans and were afraid they would be caught in their own data gathering exercise. IMHO I think it is more of GOP laziness and incompetence then participation of fraud.

Well E.J.Dionne, it’s either free and fair elections or armed revolution. Which do you prefer?

I see the left is beginning their preemptive discrediting of the next election just in case Barry isn’t allowed to stay another 4.

Interesting Times has it right. Dionne is one of the Wash. Post’s top hatchetmen/women and his use of ridicule and disinformation against his targets is well documents. I saw this first hand after he wrote up a press conference I attended. He quoted me accurately, which was a surprise, but I think he intended my quote to be linked to his attack on the main speakers, specialists in security and subversion.

Another item: SO many Post writers are married to both Democrat Party people, far-left research group staff, and other leftist media people, that there is no way they could ever be objective.

Dana Priest is one.

I’ve said it before, I’ve never heard a good reason against requiring photo id to vote.

Thanks justiceseeker93. It’s all about meme-building, that the election result in 2012 be delegitimized. I remember the day after the 2000 election — I was on a computer in a nearby library, and an angry (black) man came demanding to see their Miami newspapers (there were none). And Gore was white.

An attack on the right to vote is underway across the country through laws designed to make it more difficult to cast a ballot.
Yeah, like actually having to prove you are who you say you are.
Oh The HUGH Manatee!

If this were happening in an emerging democracy, we’d condemn it as election-rigging.
Right. Like making each voter dip their finger into purple ink so everyone knows they've already voted.

Oh? .. wait a sec....????

The laws are being passed in the name of preventing “voter fraud.”

I guess D J is happier than a pig in slop when those snow birds vote absentee in their home states in the NE, and then come to states in the south and vote again. I've heard them brag about doing just that. Also, how about my state Rep Donna Howard getting several hundred absentee (mostly overseas military ballots) and win the election by 12 votes last year.

I’ve been told that in CA, voters, who have multiple houses, vote in each county where they own a home. Try to report voter fraud in CA, it’s useless including calling the RNC in DC.

...voters, who have multiple houses, vote in each county where they have a home...

You mean to tell me that the people who have multiple houses aren't rich Republicans? (LOL!)

Getting rid of early voting would help to reduce that kind of fraud. Also, an integrated statewide database of voters, which keeps track of when a voter actually votes, so as to deny him multiple votes.

I’m told another favorite of the Left is going into elder care facilities and “helping” the elderly fill out their ballots.

Stopping the “dead” from voting must be shut down before Nov. 2012.

He's setting the stage for the 2012 narrative: "Obama lost because of Republican voter suppression! The Republican victor is illegitimate! The election is illegitimate! Let the rioting begin!"

Be prepared for ugliness on election day, and the week after.

So when will Jimmy Carter, self appointed champion of world wide fraud free elections, ride in on his white mule and save us all? Surely he’s not just sitting on his ass?
