WASHINGTON — Representative Anthony D. Weiner has told friends that he plans to resign his seat after coming under growing pressure from his Democratic colleagues to leave the House in the wake of revelations of his lewd online exchanges with women, said a person told of Mr. Weiner’s plans.
The news comes as Democratic leaders prepared to hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss whether to strip the 46-year-old Congressman of his committee assignments, a blow which would severely damage his effectiveness.

He represents his district and was elected by the voters there. They should fire him. Too bad if his continued presence embarrasses the Dem leadership. I think you want to set the bar fairly high for removing a seated Rep who was duly elected by his constituents.

Anthony Weiner was a dangerous attack dog for the Left; he was articulate and driven; his Congressional seat was safe; and he promised to threaten our rights for many years as a dangerous adversary. Think of Chuck Schumer--NY Rep who became a Senator and has done untold damage to gun rights, small government principles, etc, etc.
If ONE SHORT MONTH AGO we were told we would have this guy on the ropes by mid-June, it would have been a dream.
So let's revel in his downfall. It's important, and it's a very big victory for political conservatives.
From a cultural perspective, the Weiner resignation (if it happens) also establishes, or perhaps reaffirms, the conservative notion that it's not okay to do whatever you want regarding sexual matters--a notion dear to the Left. But I'll leave that topic to someone else.
Politically, it's a big win if this jerk resigns. With respect, you should be cheering.
