“News organizations mobilized teams of reporters and even recruited online volunteers to scan more than 24,000 pages of e-mails from Sarah Palin that were released on Friday, prompting some critics to accuse the news media of overkill at best and vigilantism at worst…

West says what no other politician is willing to say about Islam. He “tells it like it is”. I will be disappointed if Sarah goes establishment on VP selection.

“unify the party”? Why is that such a holy grail? Isn’t it the establishment Republicans, aka RINOs, who’ve helped the Dems make this mess?

This is what candidates who have sewn up the nomination do. The primaries are often hard fought and in the immediate aftermath they reach out to former opponents as a way of mending fences. Plus, they look for a vp who can win them some aspect of the vote they can’t win on their own. Palin naming West wouldn’t get her one vote that she wouldn’t already have. Maybe she’ll do it anyway, but the odds are she’ll look for a RINO/establishment figure from a region or demographic sector where she needs some help. Someone older, eastern or southern, with a lot of alliances in the mainstream of the party...

This is just the way it is. You need to prove right away you can bring people together. You start inside your own party and work outward from there.

“In any case, I think she’ll run and win”

I like most things about her too and would probably vote for her IF she runs.

I’m curious, though, if you have some particular reason to believe she is running. Or if you would still vote for Paul, Bachmann, Cain, whatever at-least-as-conservative-as-Sarah person might win the R nomination?

RE :"If she does NOT run, and you believe she is the ONLY one who can win, then would you consider her selfish or chicken... or a phony... for talking up Freedom on all her shows and tours and such, but leaving folks like you with nobody for which to vote?"

I have never got a straight answer on that one. If/when she announces she is really not running will those that swore she is already running earlier later claim it's others fault she decided not to run? Then break out the Palin 2016 tee shirts?

And more to your point, wouldnt she have an obligation to run if she is the best choice?

"she’ll need to unify the party and will likely take someone from the Establishment wing of the party—someone older than her with more experience than West has. Someone with cache among the RINOs. It’s what Reagan did."

I hope that isn't true. When her terms are over - we'll be back to square one with a RINO!! Same scenario that got where we are today.

The RINO will undermine anything she accomplishes - just like the last one worked so hard to do!

We can't keep playing this 'suckers' game.

AND if Hitlery runs in the demRAT primary, she will beat OBozo

I think the most important question is who will be the "Demonic-rat" candidate? The Demon Rats are faced with the following problem. They can follow Obama down in a Mega defeat is option one. They can go with a new candidate and perhaps limit their loses or if the Republicans pick the wrong candidate (some Rino) they might even win.

But, if they replace Obama at the head of the ticket, they risk the ire of their black constituents.

Blacks account about a quarter of the total Democrat vote. The 'Rats can't win diddly without a near unanimous black vote.

re: I really like the idea of Palin/West.

Wow, be still my pounding heart! I would rather see that combination carrying my hopes into 2012 than any other one I can imagine.

And it was one of the biggest mistakes Reagan made.

As soon as his successor was inaugurated, the "Reagan Revolution" was over. GHWB never believed in supply side economics ("voodoo economics", he called it). Even though the economy was ully recovered and the Cold War won, GHWB never had an iota of interest in shrinking government.

Imagine what the world would be like today had Reagan been followed by a true conservative.

This time, conservatism has to take charge...and stay in charge.

I like West too but I doubt he would be her VP pick. If he had to do it to get elected, I forgive him, but Jeez, 12 years of aisle reaching Bush RINO's, what a price to have to pay. Looked at in those terms, that sounds like a reason for Palin NOT to run with a RINO. Then you not only have to put up with the guy, but his RINO kid as well. Who needs more of that?

The LFM will try to push a milquetoast candidate like Mike Huckabee on us, while continuing to trash Palin.

That should tell you who to vote for.

Imagine a Palin/Cain ticket. The media would flip out over a Woman and a Black Man on the GOP ticket.

Why doesnt Hannity make a relevent prediction, like if she will run or not?

What do you care? You've been openly sneering and laughing at Governor Palin for months on this website.

Heaven forbid!

I'm sure that Reagan regretted choosing that man as his running mate until the day he died. Sarah will not make the same mistake. Not now. Not in such a dire time as this.

The left would be driven underground for a generation or nore if Palin gets in. They know this, and they can play very rough. If she does win it all, and I believe she can, she will need our constant prayers.

Oh I love West too. No doubt. But once a candidate wins the nomination their first and greatest obligation will be to win the general election — and with the nomination in hand Palin will already have every vote West would bring her.

She’ll need to look to a bloc or blocs of votes she doesn’t already have when picking a vp.
