In a final act of revenge, Elizabeth Edwards secretly recorded a testimony in her dying days that helped prosecutors indict husband John last week, it was claimed today.
John Edwards is due to stand trial on charges that could lead to a 30-year jail sentence after he pleaded not guilty on Friday to using $925,000 in campaign funds to cover up an affair and love child.
The estranged wife of the former presidential candidate is alleged to have filmed a damning testimony that was central to the prosecutions case for charges.
Friends said the cancer victim, who died in December, wanted to haunt her estranged husband and his mistress Rielle Hunter, with whom he fathered a child and made a sex tape
Bruce Baron, an expert on federal law, said: The value of a potential dying declaration, or tape, containing the testimony of Elizabeth Edwards, is devastating to any case or defence that Edwards would have.
On the secret video, Elizabeth spells out everything she knew about Johns affair with Rielle and how he managed to cover it up for so long, a source told the Enquirer.
She also spills all of Johns lies many of which could be what sends him up the river.
Elizabeth wanted to haunt John and Rielle literally from her grave and she has, the source told the Enquirer.
She hated them with a vengeance. This was a woman who took her final breath in the same bed where John once had sex with his mistress.

I believe the FReeper to whom you responded just did. What do you propose to do about it, lol?
She can’t be FORCED to was my understanding as a guard house lawyer.....
Let’s ask Larry. He knows everything.
It probably depended on how much of a dirtbag he was at any given moment.
When Elizabeth died, her friends basically said, one of her best virtues was you “always knew where you stood with her - she didn’t say things she didn’t mean”.
They also said she was a terrific lawyer. “You always knew where you stand with her” pretty much translates to, “She’s got a wicked mouth, and has no problem giving people hell.”
Her husband destroyed their marriage, but he was still the father of her kids and they were married 30 years. So she records a testimony that will probably put him in jail.
IMHO, E. was probably not a very nice person. And she was going to get him. I don’t know about other people, but if I was on my deathbed the last thing on my mind would be about making others suffer, even if well deserved.
I would have so many other things to be concerned with.
Not true. One spouse cannot be compelled to testify against another. But if they choose to, they certainly may.
Ignore them.
That's Carolina-speak for "she was an opinionated, nasty witch but I associated with her anyway." You'll still hear it used most often in reference to the late Jesse Helms, spoken by people who weren't exactly fans but voted for him anyway because the Democrat was worse.
But I've never been very impressed by the Chinese. ;^)
Ah. A more passive approach. Very refreshing.
It will be objected to on those sorts of grounds: “The prejudicial nature of the evidence outweighs its probative value, blah blah blah...”
Ultimately it will be in the judge’s discretion to allow or exclude. In a normal case it would be excluded more often than not. Hard to say what will happen.
I have had personal experience with an unfaithful wife who was also the mother of my children. The realization of what was happening was totally shocking and surprising to me and caused considerable pain including divorce and fracture of our family. For me, my personal life did eventually straighten out and good times did return. The ex wife has never shown any remorse for what happened.
In light of all of the above, I could not then or now ever do anything similar to what Mrs. Edwards did even if the opportunity presented itself. I’m happy to accept that God is in charge of everything.
The health-care call attained wide infamy in the Edwards camp. The people around them marveled at Elizabeths callousnessthis from a woman whose family had multiple houses and a net worth in the tens of millions. Yet no one called her out on her behavior, least of all her husband. His default reflex was to mollify heror avoid her. No one doubted that, as her condition improved, the increase in Johns travel had a lot to do with steering clear of his wife. What they didnt know was that the road would soon hold other enticements, too.
Subtracted 2000 from 2011 and came up with 21 somehow.
Imagine that!
I can relate! :-)
Bull. His children are not going to miss any meals because daddy is in prison.
Prison is where he belongs - or our laws mean nothing.
There’s no doubt that Elizabeth Edwards was wronged by her husband, but she participated in his evil screwing of others for years and happily reaped the financial benefits from it. She only cared when the weasel she was married to turned weasel on her. Also, I can’t think that going out with that much vengeance in your heart can be good for the soul. Seems like there’s a time to let things go and on your deathbed would be a good time. Still, if she’s an evil ghost now, I hope she haunts the both of them. I don’t know if an author could come up with a sleazier, more flawed couple than the Edwards and the complete ditz and promiscuous mistress Hunter.
What do you expect - Hillary was her best friend and advisor. And John was the one who broke ground against Her Heinous in the debates, to challenge her coronation, starting her downfall.
Hillary advised Elizabeth what to do, and now Hillary is doing her damndest to get it used against John.
It's like watching insects fight. Which one do you root for?
Wow.........karma is indeed a bitch. Lol
