Romney to Tea Party movement: No third party bids!
CNN ^ | 03/9/2010 | By: CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby

Washington (CNN) - Mitt Romney has a message to Tea Party candidates nationwide: If you lose your Republican primary bids, stay on the sidelines.

The former Massachusetts governor on Monday warned the grassroots movement not to mount third party efforts in general elections, which he said would siphon votes from Republican nominees.

"If there is a conservative candidate that runs in the general election, then obviously, divide and fail is the result," Romney said in an interview with the conservative Web site Newsmax. "Hopefully Tea Party candidates will run in respective primaries and they will either win or lose. And if they win, they will go into the general. If they lose, they won't, and they will get behind the more conservative of the two finalists."

Romney explained that "dividing our conservative effort in the general elections" would "basically hand the country to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and that would be very sad indeed."

If Romney is the Republican nominee, a Tea Party run would not be a third party, it would be a SECOND party!

Right on!
BTTT !
Run Sarah!

I absolutely will NOT be supporting Romney in the caucus and I've said that many times. I don't want him any more than anyone else but he's still better than Obama.

**********************************

With all due respect, I can't agree with that.

Sarah Palin trusts in God and knows that in order to restore our Republic, that God must be brought back into our public square.

Take your own advice Mitt!

Besides, Donald Trump is going to guarantee the Bam’s reelection because he'll probably go third party in the summer of 2012 after his show is over.

I don't care what comes out of his mouth, Trump WANTS Obama reelected. He's a con man.

I love the Tea Party but some in the movement are inherently stupid. They love Ron Paul that won't EVER become president. I'm sure they were the same idiots that thought Ross Perot was the answer or voted for that lying moron in the NY-26 special election because he was on the
“tea party” ticket. His 9% was enough to give the seat to the Dem. Although the GOP candidate was, as usual for NY, a total loser.

You sound like a RomneyBot and you do not post very much

I dont know you and unsolicited you sent me a FReepMail

Please do not do that again

your question needs the light of the open thread

In answer to my #221 you said....

“A guy who deliberately dodged the draft TWICE when his country called upon him to serve...................

Was this by taking the deferrment for being in college or grad school? I really do not know and would like to. This was done by Cheney five times. Do you have a problem with his doing it? I don’t. Republicans attack their own. Dems stick with theirs, no matter how disgusting. We probably can’t win the presidency unless Reagan comes back to life.”

You have been here since 2000 and yet you claim to not know by now why Williad Mitt Romney dodged the draft during Vietnam at least TWICE

then you havent either havent been paying attention

or you are a RomneyBot and therefore in denial

Romney is a yellow bellied coward and not fit to be Commander-in-Chief

Because of the 3000 “third party” voters in MN? Do I get a prize?

I’m sure you’re going to tell us. And I’m also sure the tale you’re about to relate will leave off the part about the establishment RINOs Karl Roving our conservative candidates.

Why don’t we have control of the U.S. Senate?

"Gosh, I sure don't want to vote for Olympia Snowe, but we don't DARE allow [Insert Name Here] to be elected to the U.S. Senate!"

"Gosh, I sure don't want to vote for Susan Collins, but we don't DARE allow [Insert Name Here] to be elected to the U.S. Senate!"

"Gosh, I sure don't want to vote for John McCain, but we don't DARE allow [Insert Name Here] to be elected to the U.S. Senate!"

"Gosh, I sure don't want to vote for Scott Brown, but we don't DARE allow [Insert Name Here] to be elected to the U.S. Senate!"

"Gosh, I sure don't want to vote for Lisa Murkowski, but we don't DARE allow [Insert Name Here] to be elected to the U.S. Senate!"

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Relax. Trump will never run. There's no way he will ever trust anyone or a consortium of lawyers and his children to run his business empire.

Furthermore, he will never, ever open his ledgers to media and public scrutiny. He's not nearly as rich as he would like us all to believe.

Some of our tea party candidates certainly shot themselve in the foot with some of their statements. Harry Reid should have been defeated. (I worked very hard to defeat Charlie Crist and am a strong supporter of Marco Rubio)

If clown Romney somehow gets elected, he will no doubt continue to lead this nation down a path of destruction by furthering the liberal agenda. He will move the GOP to the left and then republicans will get the blame for the inevitable screwups his liberalism will cause.

Yet, people like you think it would be good to vote for him just to knock out Obama....why can’t you see that having Romney will not get this country back on track and will only further diminish the GOP?
