Experts back Sarah Palin’s historical account
The Boston Herald ^ | 6/6/11 | Chris Cassidy

Sarah Palin yesterday insisted her claim at the Old North Church last week that Paul Revere “warned the British” during his famed 1775 ride — remarks that Democrats and the media roundly ridiculed — is actually historically accurate. And local historians are backing her up.

Palin prompted howls of partisan derision when she said on Boston’s Freedom Trail that Revere “warned the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free.”

Palin insisted yesterday on Fox News Sunday she was right: “Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there. That, hey, you’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms.”

In fact, Revere’s own account of the ride in a 1798 letter seems to back up Palin’s claim. Revere describes how after his capture by British officers, he warned them “there would be five hundred Americans there in a short time for I had alarmed the Country all the way up.”

Boston University history professor Brendan McConville said, “Basically when Paul Revere was stopped by the British, he did say to them, ‘Look, there is a mobilization going on that you’ll be confronting,’ and the British are aware as they’re marching down the countryside, they hear church bells ringing — she was right about that — and warning shots being fired. That’s accurate.”

Patrick Leehey of the Paul Revere House said Revere was probably bluffing his British captors, but reluctantly conceded that it could be construed as Revere warning the British.

“I suppose you could say that,” Leehey said. “But I don’t know if that’s really what Mrs. Palin was referring to.”

McConville said he also is not convinced that Palin’s remarks reflect scholarship.

“I would call her lucky in her comments,” McConville said.

Meanwhile, the state’s Democratic Party held a thin blue line on the issue, insisting on mocking Palin despite a brief historical review of the matter. State party chairman John Walsh wise-cracked that the region welcomes all tourists, even those with “an alternative view of history.”

“If you believe he was riding through the countryside sending text messages and Tweets to the British, still come to Boston,” he said. “There are a lot of things to do and see.”

But Cornell law professor William Jacobson, who asserted last week that Palin was correct, linking to Revere quotes on his conservative blog Legalinsurrection.com, said Palin’s critics are the ones in need of a history lesson. “It seems to be a historical fact that this happened,” he said. “A lot of the criticism is unfair and made by people who are themselves ignorant of history.”

Sarah is vindicated once again and the PDS infected libtards once again look like the uneducated, ill informed jackasses they truly are. Karma's a bitch ain't it?

I hope she can put off deciding one way or the other for a while longer. It gives her more “rope-a-dope” opportunities. The MSM is so bent on painting her as stupid or ignorant that they will continue to set themselves up for a killer backhand shot.

They forget that while Sarah may not be a big student of history she has a staff who knows how to use Google. And Sarah is not a narcissist so she does not assume she knows everything like the big 0 who routinely says things that aren’t so.

Can you imagine Sarah saying something epically stupid like we had 57 states? I can't.

She has made gaffes, everyone who does public speaking has. It's the law of averages. But Bobo Biden has built a career on making epically stupid public statements and the press covers for him just like they do his asshat boss. Gaffes like FDR talking to the American people in his radio fireside chats on the day the stock market crashed. Even though he did not take office until 1933. That one really floored me.

“I suppose you could say that,” Leehey said. “But I don’t know if that’s really what Mrs. Palin was referring to.”

English Translation: "Well yeah, what she said was correct, but she is not not a liberal so she can't possibly know what she is talking about."

Maybe after she has finished touring all 57 states ...

The MSM are some of the least educated people in business. They are consistently awful in their knowledge the extends beyond the churning out a of delivery vehicle for Dillard’s bra ads.

The MSM are some of the least educated people in business.

For years I have said that. The MSM is staffed with journalism majors. They didn't focus on history, science, economics, business, etc. Recent journalism graduates spent/and spend their time writing stories that are meant to sensationalize, convince, manipulate, or alienate the readership...depending on the political agenda of the writer. It is not reporting, with factual information...it is fiction disguised as news. Or, it is their attempt to craft news out of nonsense. Whichever, today's staff in the media have spent little time learning anything else. They are basically empty barrels who make the most noise and who spend little time actually researching and discovering the truth because deadlines loom and they are always in a race to be the first with a story. No matter how incomplete or untrue the story might be.

It was a ploy that worked 50 or more years ago when the population was not accustomed to doing their own research. Writing down to the level of sixth graders worked before the masses also graduated from colleges - many with superior degrees in more difficult or challenging subjects -and whose intelligence was at least equal to, if not more impressive than their own.

Today's media writers are stuck back in the 40's and 50's. As are their professors in college. They have not caught up to the astute awareness of their readership. And the American viewers and readership are not swallowing their pap hook, line, and sinker as we once did. We learned something in college, too. We learned to analyze, evaluate, and digest information...rather than accept as fact some poorly written, slanted, adjective-strewn hit piece that today's journalists call "reporting."

Their lack of knowleddge in science, just basic science, is stunning. I don’t think any one of them has had physics, chemistry or biology.

Just as dumb as doorknobs.

I started noticing it in the 1980s when they were attempting to explain the star wars defense intiative. They got nothing right. Not one thing.

On second thought, after researching the LSM facts, Sarah Palin was wrong.

I mean like the LSM points out 24/7, everyone knows that it was an Austrian speaking corpse man named Barack Obama who throughout the 57 states that dark night. (and was considering to also ride through the country of Europe before the Brits caught him) ) And when captured by the British, he signed a written confession and dated it 2008.

“Do not fear the enemy, for your enemy can only take your life. It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your honor. That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoemaking and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poorhouse.” Mark Twain
