When Bush had unemployment at 5.6%, the media and the Democrats (same thing) called it the "worst economy since Hoover".
Perhaps people are starting to see what is in front of their nose.

It’s all good though, we have the media to show us pictures of Obama’s many golf games...

Did we pay people to be unemployed back then like we do now?

And the lack of media condemnation is outragious.
I’ll bet some of them wish McCain was President during this so they’d have someone to crucify.

The entire U.S. adult population can simply collect unemployment checks forever and that way nobody will have to work. Government can care for us. Easy.

You nailed it. There were make-work jobs back then, the results of which are still visible in places, and the stories of which are part of family lore. Those jobs existed because there were no welfare benefits to sleep on.
You could never run a WPA project in America now.

This from CBS News?
Either the MSM has concluded things are so bad they will permanently destroy what’s left of their credibility by continuing to spin for Obama, or they’ve concluded he is a dangerous incompetent who must be dispatched before he leads their precious Democrat Party into fifty years in the wilderness.
Or perhaps they are just pushing him to go for another stimulus and a giant WPA works project.

I thought they were called “shovel ready”.

Right. They bear no resemblance. They are purely graft to the unions and accomplish nothing except logrolling, featherbedding and gravy-training.

I'm tired of two misrepresentations actively pushed by the Democrats and the media. Yesterday, CNN Money had a good time laughing at Bush and his MBA while rejecting any suggestion that a lack of private sector experience on O's part might be a problem. Fact: The Bush tax cuts were one part of a successful strategy to get US out of recession. Fact: Bush pushed (though not hard enough) for Fannie and Freddie reform that would have eased this economic meltdown.
Massive unemployment creates a class of voter "on the dole" and dependent on government. They will be hesitant to bite the hand that feeds them. If they will be motivated to vote is a big question in 2012.

As we all know, there are many in the Obama Administration who see this as a good thing. More depenents on the public teet. Food Stamp enrollment at an all time high. More desire to bash big corporations. More of a chance to shove the country toward Socialism by keeping the crisis going.
