I prefer to attack people with fireworks.
Sounds like they are full of it. Get a refund.
Huh? I can buy all sorts of ammo at Wally World and they quit selling guns. First I've heard about this.
I once had a few firearms but they were all lost in a tragic corn harvesting accident.
Hogwash. I just received a pistol shipped from a dealer in AZ to a dealer in CA and if I can get it here, it can be had just about anywhere.
Get a refund and call a different store.
dicks has a strict anti “assault rifle” company policy.
they were taking heat for selling the R25 which is just an AR10, a freefloat tube, and a camo job with some nice marketing.
ask them how much .22 and 7.62x39 they sell as they are both listed by the ATF as handgun rounds.
Colorado is now a deep dark blue. With that in mind I am sure the gun grabbers are also in power.
Dick’s has gone PC.
Around here they stopped selling all pistols and pistol ammo and have cut back all their long gun selections and ammo.
The last time I went in to our local Dick’s store all they had were shoes and all the tame sporting goods. Their “outdoor” stuff consists mostly of a small selection of camping gear.
ATF had already taken a deposit from a buyer in mexico.
I’m pretty sure the guy your husband talked to is on crack, or maybe just an anti-gunner trying to kill one purchase and make a hard time for one gun guy.
You cannot transfer from an FFL to a NON-FFL across state lines. But so what? Obviously Dick’s is a FFL in TN or they never would have sold a single gun in your state, and the transfer from Dick’s to your husband has both parties in TN. He may just be an idiot confusing rules on “transfers” (sales) to end customers with stock transfers between locations. How does he think most dealers get their stock in the first place? Obviously from out-of-state mfgrs or wholesalers.
The only new “law” concerns purchases of multiple long guns within a five day period, isn’t in force yet, and I believe will only affect border states if it does become effective.
OTOH, even if you could force the issue, do you really want to reward a company that is either this incompetent or this anti-rights, or both, when there are perfectly good independent retailers in your town?
The manager is full of it. There exists no such law.
Dick’s has started to live up to it’s name over the past couple of years. Many of my customers have had some real WTF style complaints about them. But for me, it’s all good as it helps my business. I would recommend that your hubby go to www.budsgunshop.com and buy his gun there. Have it shipped to a local FFL that does transfers for a reasonable rate.
I charge $5 for transfers but I’m considered one of the lowest on the east coast. I wouldn’t pay over $25 for a transfer of a rifle, shotgun or handgun. If a shop wants more than that, they are ripping you off.
Go to The Gun Source as they have this rifle in three different calibers. Purchase the rifle from them using your debit/credit card (saving sales tax if they're not in your state) and have it delivered to your local gun shop. The folks at Gun Source are great to work with and I have bought from them several times with great success.

PS: You stated that you're in Tennessee, but your flag was a Texas flag. If you are in middle Tennessee, send me a FReepmail and I can tell you who I use to take delivery. They are located just 3 exits south of the Franklin Dick's Sporting Goods, at #46.
Search for the weapon you want on Gunbroker.com (out of Atlanta, GA) and bid on it.
If you are the winning bid, pay for the firearm and send a copy of the FFL to the seller (the seller will indicate the shipping charge to be paid).
Complete the completely legal transaction without dealing with DICKS.
Manager is spouting total bullshit.
I’m a federally licensed firearms dealer in Colorado, and there have been no new federal or state firearms laws passed any time recently, and I have been notified of no new recent regulation changes by the BATF, which they diligently notify me of via periodic newsletter.
That manager is a lying “Dick Head”, which I believe is the brand name of Dick’s store-brand bike helmets.
