Dressed in black jeans, leather jacket and crash helmet, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate joined tens of thousands of bikers in a rally honouring military veterans.
"It is certainly seen by those in the media as a godsend, as it will give a so far dismal Republican primary season a shot of excitement.
"However, the Republican establishment cannot be happy. They probably view her candidacy as a spoiler, as she has the potential to split their party's vote and ensure a Democratic win."
Mrs Palin is a paid contributor to Fox News and has her own reality TV show. She has written a best-selling book and draws large crowds when she appears at book stores, rallies and other events.
But establishment figures in the Republican Party believe Mrs Palin has been involved in too many political rows and soap-opera dramas to win the nomination.
Alongside Mr Romney, former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and pizza entrepreneur Herman Cain lead the race.
Mrs Palin joined the riders in the Pentagon parking lot before heading to the rally on the Mall in downtown Washington.
"Nice to meet you," Mrs Palin told one fellow rider. "Thanks for doing what you're doing for the veterans."
"How do you wear all this leather and stay cool?" she asked another.
Mrs Palin's 'One Nation' road trip is the latest and biggest hint that the former governor of Alaska wants a shot at the Republican nomination to run against Barack Obama.
Scott Conroy, author of Sarah From Alaska, said: "Sarah Palin is someone who single-handedly turned the 2008 campaign on its head. She can draw a crowd of tens of thousands of people whenever and wherever she wants."

Bother LucyT again and you will endure the wrath of many Freepers including me.
You beat me to it. I was hoping someone would address the comments. Pretty sure they were all Brits, and I'm telling you they were horrible. I was so tempted to sign up just to address some of those punks. These were beyond the pale.
@shearm Michael D. Shear There appear to be a few reporters who claim to know where @sarahpalinusa is (and where the bus is) but they don't seem to want to share...
He also tweeted earlier that he felt like he was in a real life game of Where's Waldo. H/T C4P
OMG, that’s Willow?
That’s what they are saying. Kinda mature looking isn’t she? As I said, good genes in that family:).
You betcha!!!!
Love that photo!
No you didn't, and I will not repeat it.
You used a word expressing a vile practice and it came off as stupid.
Any supporter of Palin's would not post what you did.
You appear to be a concern troll.
ROTFLOL.
VR is headed to *The Park* to have a look.
We will hear from him in FR mail.
“Real life game of where’s Waldo”. LOL - she’s really got their number Al. They’ll be fighting in the queue to get on that bus. The next few weeks are going to be great but probably not for the LSM.
In the 2008 run for the Presidency, between John McCain and Hussein Obama-—McCain was the closest thing to a Conservative running.
That isn’t saying much I know, but Sarah did the best she could for Republicans, then they turned around and crapped on her.
Did she cry about it? No. She still hasn’t blamed Mccain even after he left her standing alone taking heat
She met them head on and made a Million bucks doing it.
Thats my kind of woman. My kind of Candidate.
Nope.
She is even beautiful with helmet hair LOL.
My wife can relate to that.
THUD!
Thank you :^)
What should she have done with McCain?
>> “Why hasnt Sarah ridden a bike of her own?” <<
.
Perhaps she is not licensed to ride one?
Not Willow. Her name is Petrina Herman.
The epitome of stupidity:

And a perfect retort to those that call Palin “stupid”
Thank you. Also, correction to another post, Piper is the one who rode with her dad, not Bristol.
Oops. Meant to ping you on #99 too.
