Doesn’t Daisyjane69 say she got the virus from a favorite news site? I wonder if hers came from Drudge as well. This wouldn’t be the first time his site was a target of computer miscreants.

Its not Drudge serving the ads/malware. The banner ads actaully come via a advertising company. The pukes that put this stuff out submit their ads hoping to get thru the filters. Occasionally they do, even though the advertising companies spend a lot of time reviewing the code.

The pop up I got when I tried to go to Drudge said my computer might have been infected. It wanted me to open it to check. I suspected it was malware and force quit the Safari. Now I am glad I did.

I go to all the normal sites before I head to bed. Nothing sexy or interesting. All of them sites we can and do post here every day.
I’m mystified where this came from.

Several times, my anti-virus has popped us as a result of Google. Google sometimes gets infested links and they are slow to correct the problem.

Run a good anti-virus, etc. I also frequently 'image' my OS partition using CloneGenius (now called
Spotmau Data Backup Kit. It has saved me many times. I don't have reinstall from scratch and all my settings/installed software are there. My WinXP OS partition is just under 30gb, and the imaging takes about 35 minutes to create or reinstall. I used the non-compressed setting.

I had Drudge’s site open a couple days ago and got hit by a Trojan. Thankfully, my different detectors nabbed it. Notify Drudge anytime it happens. He won’t want his site becoming known for it.

I got a nasty virus from a Drudge Report article not too long ago.
I had no idea how to get rid of it so I just went and restarted my computer from day 1.
I lost everything (had pics on an external hard drive), but it did get rid of the virus.
