Lech Walesa, Poland's Solidarity-era legend, ex-president and 1983 Nobel Peace Prize winner said Friday he would not accept an invitation to meet with fellow Nobel winner US President Barack Obama.
"It's difficult to tell journalists what you'd like to say to the president of a superpower. This time I won't tell him, I won't meet him, it doesn't suit me," Walesa told Poland's public broadcaster TVP.
Obama is due to arrive in Poland later Friday after the G8 summit in France.
Walesa was originally scheduled to meet Obama Saturday along with other key figures in Poland's post-1989 transition from communism to democracy.

ROTFLMAO
Correction:
Delete “refuses.”
Walesa makes me so proud to be Polish today.
“God bless Lech Walesa!!! “
AMEN!!!!!!!!!! (And I’m sure He will...)
;-)
He knows Obama = Epic Fail President!
Walesa knows communist scum when he sees one.
Eastern Europeans are trying to come out of the Dark Age of communist hell. Love it. They do not tolerate socialists/communists well.
God bless ya, Mr. Walesa.
He screwed up the toast to the Queen, he screwed up when he signed the guestbook with 2008 (though I think that was some kind of deliberate screw up with a hidden muslim meaning or something), and then his limo bottoms out in Dublin and everyone starts laughing at it.
This is supposedly the best we have to offer? A huge embarassment and a stain on the US and the office of the POTUS if you ask me.
Lech knows a commie when he sees a commie.
Palin/Walesa 2012
(Bet we can find his Hawaiian BC too!)
She did tell him to SET IT DOWN..and he did. She chastised him like a child
Just hope that people like Netanyahu and Walesa understand that Obama is just a temporary aberration in the American Presidency and will be corrected very soon.
Beautiful, always good to know there are more like us out there.
It is painful to see Obama lumped in with people who risked their lives for a noble cause.
But, at least to that idiotic committee, I guess a unemployed slacker sitting on the couch smoking pot in his boyfriend’s apartment for years, is considered to be furthering the cause of peace.
Obama definitely ‘won’ the Peace Prize. He certainly never did anything to earn it. He was given the award for the sole reason of skin color. They awarded him for being Black. (half Black anyway, I guess) the vote to give this ‘prize’ to Obama took place 11 days before he was even sworn in. Totally absurd.
Comparing Obama to Lech Walesa is a direct insult to all people everywhere who risked it all to stand for what is good and right.
It was the worst choice since giving it to Arafat.
Good one HollyB, thanks...
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Walesa actually worked for peace, putting his life in grave danger as a union organizer (remember that "unions" are illegal in communist countries). Walesa fought for human and workers rights with his union, as opposed to Obama's "unions" which are nothing more than goon squads who force their workers to pay the government to keep their jobs, and screw over their workers and members, profiting the union bosses and corrupocrats!
Obama sullies Walesa's award.
Mark
How long will it take the MSM to start calling Lech a Polack??
...3....2....1........
I worked with an excellent Polish gentleman back in the mid 80s who had been in Solidarity, was at the Gdansk shipyard strike, and somehow left the country afterwards because the commies were looking for him. He was a Patriot who loved his country, but made America his home. He absolutely LOVED Reagan for his stand regarding the Red bastards.
I seem to recall a story (article, conversation????) about the time the Pope visited Poland, and General Jarulzewski (spelling?) the ruling communist *sshole was looking at the hundreds of thousands of Poles who showed up to greet the Pope; he then made some comment to an aide (or viceversa) to the effect of “We can’t kill them all - there’s too many of them...”
Anyone that supports, espouses, facilitates and in any way pushes that ideology onto people is a legitimate target in my eyes. It is the ideology of murderers, thugs, deviants, and sadists, and it gives the phony cover of law to any horror “the State” dreams up.
Again - God bless Lech Walesa, and I wish him a long and healthy life as an example to all that people CAN defeat the communist scum if they stand together.
That goes for this country too.
How many Poles does it take to bitch-slap a boy-King?
Apparently just one...
Walesa was originally scheduled to meet Obama Saturday along with other key figures in Poland's post-1989 transition from communism to democracy.
According to sources close to Walesa, he was expecting a personal invitation from Obama, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 shortly after taking office.
He probably got an email that read "Dear Polish Communism to Democracy Transition Team Member, You're invited..." like the September 11 families did.
Lech Walesa makes me proud of my Polish heritage! My paternal grandmother would be very proud of Walesa.
Ah yes, those were the days!
