Disasters can and do happen anywhere in the United States. Some are due to nature, some are do to crime. Tornado alley is expanding...not just Texas, Oklahoma anymore. Other states have serious border problems, ghetto and crime problems. Oregon is beautiful but way to liberal for those of us in “fly over” country. California would be out of the question for me..lol. Virginia, NC, Alabama, Fla., all have their share of severe weather. Where is a “sane” place to live?

Important to remember that what makes this Tornado season different from others is not the number of Tornadoes, for it’s reported they are actually less in number thus far... rather, they are hitting communities and businesses instead of outskirts and rural areas. Thus the deaths reported increases greatly as does the degree of destruction.

So the Greenies can blame it on Urban Sprawl.

Your hateful comments, Godless as they are, have directly caused the death of three more children in car accidents. The BLOOD of CHILDREN is on YOUR hands.

The chart above shows this year’s count (black line), beginning in mid-April, surpassing all previous years in terms of a total count of tornadoes. Please note that this years “adjusted” numbers represents the best attempt of meteorologists to weed out over-counted twisters.

Map data range ended 1998 — 13 years ago.

We should look at something more current.

The white areas are labeled in the legend as “< 1”. Couldn’t they just say “0”.

That map was in response to the discussion of tornadoes moving out of tornado alley. The map shows that historically, major damaging tornadoes were never limited to a so-called tornado alley.

I take that legend to mean an area with 0.99 per 3,700 sq miles, or also described as 1 per 3,737 sq miles would be white.

It is not the same as zero.

Yeah yeah yeah. Don’t self-deploy. Don’t send food, water, clothing or blankets. Just send money.

You’ve just named the three relatively civilized portions of the state.

If I lived in the middle of tornado alley, I'd be living in a place like THIS or THIS or I wouldn't live there at all. In fact, if we can swing it, this kind of construction will be a central part of our retirement anywhere we move for retirement not only because it is impervious to most kinds of natural disasters including earthquake and fire (as well as hurricanes and tornado's) but also because the construction is bugproof and virtually maintenance free. Just have to mow the roof once in awhile. In addition, the energy consumption savings are considerable.
