Come on tell the truth, your sister did not want to give up any handouts she was raking in. I say we drive this bus right over the cliff. The American people are addicted to entitlements(Handouts). The only way to detox is bankruptcy.

If the pimpstream media and mediscare pollsters are to be believed, you'd better start investing in heavy metals: and by that I don't mean gold, but rather lead and depleted uranium, because America is finished.

The Medicare Trustees themselves have made it plain. Medicare will collapse in fifteen years; and that estimate is a generous one, based on assumed rates of growth we will almost certainly not see, increases in medical costs that are far too low, and a CBO fantasy that 0bamacare will help to restrain costs.

If Republicans cannot educate seniors in eighteen months about how dire this situation is -- and it is just one of several enormous EF-5 tornadoes about to level our economy because of the profligacy of Americans since the 1930's -- there is really no sense in voting for anyone any longer.

Rather than head for the hills, Republicans should take a deep breath, look at the turnout numbers, look at the presence of a spoiler candidate, look at a disgruntled Tea Partier more concerned about his own bruised ego than the good of the district, and yes, look at how poorly Ryan's plan has been explained, and get ready to fight this fight. Running away from it -- as some FReepers are advocating -- means, literally, the end of the country.

Attacking Medicare instead, as some are suggesting will not help. First, there isn't enough money to be saved there. Second, pulling the rug out from under disadvantaged people during a recession (which we are not recovering from) will not be seen anymore positively than rolling granny off the cliff and third, if the Party can't explain why Medicare is in trouble, it will be no more successful in explaining why Medicaid is in trouble, and cutting Medicaid will simply be added to the list of evil things the evil Republicans are planning to do: "First they came after Medicare... now they're coming after Medicaid... Social Security is next... and blah-blah-blah..."

Sorry, but running at the first sign of trouble isn't a prescription for winning anything.

RE :"The GOP base spirit has killed by the Bonehead disastrous leadership and terrible media /PR savvy."

I have to agree

Her exact comment about the race was “ does it really matter anyway. The Repubs did not stand up to Obama and stop the Obamacare funding.”

By all means...allow the Dem to be elected. That'll help. Sheesh.

Its more than that.

The GOP leaders are fools and huge disasters.
They were voted in to stop Obama, Obamacare, and the unreal spending.

So they fold and refused to fight the Pelosi budget mess and made excuses why they could not FIGHT.
Its was their FIRST SHOWDOWN and they FAILED .
It was PR disaster for the GOP and KILLED the Base's morale . Bonehead and Cantor need to be REMOVED.

The problem is, the local Tea Party functionary didn’t adhere to Tea Party principles. His ego was bruised, so he endorsed a far-left Dem running a false flag Tea Party operation.

I really don’t believe that! My idea of the Tea Party is that not only would they give up some of their own benefits but they would support and vote for those that support those ideals.

I understand what you are saying, but you are probably looking at polls involving elderly and taking those for truth.

I am one of those elderly and would love to see Medicare and Medicade cut to the bone. Social Security should also be cut to those that actually need it.

I know that there are many who tend to rebel when it effects their pocketbook but there are many more that understand that if things do NOT change, it matters little to those contrarians.

The future of the US is at stake and most of the Tea Party folks understand that...

This is all being overblown. I am not even worried as to what this means as far as the 2012 election. The real message on the state of govt. health care WILL be made clear. Yes, the Democrats will run a campaign of fear. And I don't care how ugly this sounds, the Republicans can, and must do the same.

We need, and will in the end, bring a campaign of fear to America. And the reason we must, is that it will only be telling the truth. The truth will cause, initially, a negative reaction and too many will want to kill the messenger. But then, the truth will sink in. So the earlier we get to it, the campaign of fear, the better. In that way, it will also leave time in the second half of his adventure to tell America what needs to be done about it.

To hell with what happened in NY. Of course you will have the phony liberal news using this to hype defeat for Republicans. To hell with it, it won't work. In fact, good - I am glad - it only allows Republicans early enough to build the counter offensive against the talking points.

And, I would like to throw one more campaign issue which I think a lot of folks are forgetting. Yes, of course, the economy stupid, and yes, of course the debt, but Republicans should also pull out the old Jack of Spades card in the deck, and for good reason: CRIME.

Too many think CRIME will not be an issue in 2012. I say, yes it is. I say, a lot of Americans are concerned about their neighborhoods - about the gangs, the illegals connected to gangs, it doesn't matter what the govt tries to say about stats on crime, we feel the crime, and we are very concerned. The Republicans need to start running some good, explicit, ads on gang bangers, on crime in general.

Take the recent beating of the Giants fan at Dodger stadium. This is an example of a message, a message of concern, that the Republicans can bring to America about crime in general, and about families who have had enough, enough of the gang bangers, enough of the grafitti, we are just getting sick of it speaking for myself and my community.

You may think, we should not "fight dirty". It isn't fighting dirty. It's fighting. That's what we need to do, that is what we will do, that is what we have to do and like it. Break their legs like a chicken bone politics. I want a candidate like Cain, or Trump, to get into it, like Bachmann, like Dodge City, and whoever comes, even Romney if he is ready to play hard ball.

Look, I know he MA health plan of Romney was a stupid disaster. But if he wants to get past that, and get into the hard ball talk that is needed from this campaign, then I am ready for him. I know, talking is one thing, doing is another. So make him sign in blood the oath, that he will do what he says.

Ok, if fellow Republicans don't want him, that's fine too. There are good candidates - I have NO doubt that out of the mess of pancakes in this cooking contest, there is going to come the best cookin' batch yet. Don't worry about it. Don't let this crap about NY, or about "who is the front runner" or any of this mean anything to you.

You all know what is best. You are all going to get your chance to pick the person, gal or guy. You pick it, and let's run it. In fact, this is not only going to be ours to win, it's going to be FUN while doing it.

Contrast these two from Republicans about two years apart:

At a press conference yesterday, House GOP freshmen, led by Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), called on President Obama to stop the “MediSCARE” tactics that Washington Democrats have used to demagogue the new House majority’s plan to protect Medicare for current retirees, and preserve the program for future generations.
House GOP Freshmen Call on President Obama to Stop the MediSCARE Tactics (Speaker GOP website on May 12, 2011)

Republicans have lately intensified their health-care message toward the elderly. The Republican National Committee's “bill of rights” includes calls to “protect Medicare,” “prohibit efforts to ration health care based on age” and “ensure seniors can keep their current coverage.
GOP Pushes Health ‘Bill of Rights’(FR post of Washington Post ^ | 8/25/09 | Ben Pershing )

I hope this blows over by the election, but I was NOT surprised to see Republicans get in trouble over this.

Nothing is ever going to change, because everybody is for cutting spending EXCEPT when it comes to their pet program, be it Social Security, or Medicare, or whatever subsidy they personally benefit from.

So nothing gets done. It’s too late to do anything about it.

Apparently nobody really liked Corwin. Also, Lee left in disgrace, and that turns off voters. People who just voted for a guy who turned out to be a creepy lying stalker-guy maybe don’t want to go vote again.

Thanks.

Quoting The Politico on FR, or anywhere to the Right of HuffPo ought to be taken with a grain of salt.

She ended up voting but her friend/neighbor did not bother.
The GOP got everyone all wipped up that they were going to STOP Obama and Obamacare.

Then their first showdown, Bonehead, and the GOP folds like lawn-chairs and DO NOT fight over the Pelosi budget.
Then they made all these LAME EXCUSES why they did not want to fight but they will next time !
It was a disgrace.

Obama will be tough to beat without the seniors voting republican.

As Abe Simpson said, "I'm old. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme"

Bonehead and Cantor need to be REMOVED.

Nonsense. They haven't even had a chance yet on their first big plan. The last budget was a Dem responsibility.

Meanwhile, the GOP House has voted to expand drilling & disallow gay marriage in the Navy.

Yet your sis stayed home helping to allow a Dem to win? Wrong thinking.

Your expectations of what a Republican House alone can do were obviously completely overblown.

You can say that again! Heck, my low expectations about what a government with both houses and the Presidency controlled by "Republicans" could do were overblown, too!

Yeah, I think that is also a factor. Personally I've always thought the Foley Page scandal breaking just before the election was a much bigger effect in getting Pelosi the speakership than a lot of people believe. Sad to say, but the House Post Office/Check Kiting Scandal might have been a more important contributor to Newt's victory than the Contract.
