All I meant was, that on a subconscious level Barry realizes it’s all gone to hell. It wouldn’t come out as a gaffe if he were consciously in touch with how much he’s screwed up. On a sentient level he’s no doubt telling himself he’s on top of the world, and it’s only a matter of time before the old magic rekindles. Deep down, though, this date-transposition illustrates that he knows he screwed the pooch. He’s got rough, rough sledding ahead.
It’s just nice, from my perspective, to see that regardless of how many yes-people he’s got around him, on some level even Barry realizes he’s stepped in a Manhattan-sized cow paddy. That must reflect their internal polling. It reflects my impression too.
No, I believe he signed it that way because that is the way he was taught in Indonesia. I know that is the European way to sign dates. It’s probably the international way as well.
There is no way he knows anything about the military and if the corrupt govt. in Chicago, Ill. realized they were doing anything “the US military way,” they would probably put someone in jail.
