Ray Harding's obesity is big factor in light sentence for role in Hevesi pay-to-play scandal

The fat rat sat chatting in the courtroom hallway Wednesday morning, looking not at all like a guy about to be sentenced for stealing $800,000.

The reason became clear when he entered the 13th-floor courtroom to face Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Lewis Bart Stone.

Thirteen proved to be the luckiest of numbers for the onetime Liberal Party boss when Stone gave Ray Harding a conditional discharge.

That means not a minute in jail.

And, Harding did not even have to give back the $800,000 he pocketed as a supposed middleman between state pension funds and investment firms.

NY state is really giving Illinois a run for it's money for cultivating blatant corruption. I am surprised that this writer wasn't tempted to use the term "Fat Cat" in his reporting. It seemed like low hanging fruit.

Harding was NOT a Democrat. He was chairman of the New York State Liberal Party, which is NO longer a recognized political party in New York State.
