Don’t know of any time that Mark Steyn has been wrong...and he seems to continue his record here (hard as that is to accept).

I ask Mark Steyn, and all of you who agree with him on this a respectful question: What is it that concerns you about Sarah running for president?

If you see her as a kingmaker, why not let her run, and when she drops out (because she’s a “poor” candidate) THEN become kingmaker? What are you afraid of? I’d love to see one of you articlulate this coherently and honestly.

I like Steyn a lot, but I disagree with him about Palin.

If she entered the race I think she’d vault to the top of the Republican primary polls. I think the waiting game has largely been about seeing what she is going to do. If she joins the race she would immediately effectively knock out many of the 2nd and 3rd tier candidates.

Palin could stay back and be a king/queen maker, but I think she’d be better off seizing the moment and throwing her hat in the ring. She brings charisma, energy and a ton of grass roots/movement conservative support. She has the ability to appeal to most mainstream Republicans/conservatives AND the fed-up-with-the-establishment Tea Party folks.

I don’t think polls showing her with high general election negatives make any difference right now. Even Hillary Clinton had uber high negatives and she joined the race and nearly beat Hussein for the Dem nomination.

I suppose Steyn has a point about TPaw if Palin doesn’t run, but I really hope we can do better than him. TPaw has some good stuff going for him, but I think Republicans want someone to get fired up about, not just someone to vote for. I believe Palin could unite and excite the party far more than any other candidate in the race could do.

For a fellow who writes well, his support for John McCain, Jr. is perplexing.

It’s far too early, from Palin’s perspective, and she doesn’t want to telegraph her punches.

I’m disappointed by steyns comments as well. Saying palin should not run is an admission of cowardice.

We face an industrial complex of anti conservatism composed of journalists academics media pundits faux activists and soros associated billionaires. Any conservative will have themselves their families and their church destroyed or burned.

The tea party has no leader. There are hardly any declared candidates in an era of 9 percent unemployment. We are afraid.

Telling sarah not to run is the tip of a melted spear. We cringe and cry in the face of abusive power.

Sad.

Uh oh, Steyn just made himself an enemy in the eyes of a lot of Freepers.

Suggesting that Palin might not be the Messiah is blasphemy around here.

I hope I don’t get myself banned by saying that. I know I will be flamed.

It be worth seeing Sarah run just to see the libs foam at the mouth before their heads exploded. If she won maybe a lot of them would leave the country. We would get rid of our illegal aliens and and some of our libs at the same time!

I like you Mark, but I think you’re dead wrong on this one.

I’ll wager that if Palin runs, she’ll suck the political oxygen away from all other contenders. I saw her on Gretta’s show the other night, and I think she’s going to wait it out, and then at the right moment, announce her candidacy.

Palin is the only true conservative out there, and the voters know it!

Palin 2012!

We’re a year and a half away from the election. I believe it’s already too late for anyone who doesn’t already have name recognition to win. And, should Mr. Nameless suddenly appear out of nowhere, how is he (or she) to survive the relentless media attempt to destroy them once they become the front-runner (unless, of course, they’re clearly unelectable - in which case the media will do everything possible to support them).

I agree with him. Her role in introducing young conservatives to the national state was invaluable. Besides, her family would be miserable in D.C.

Palin should definately, definately run. At very least, she needs to step up to the plate and combat the false themes the lib MSM has tried to box her up with. Even if she doesn’t win the nomination, she will ‘still’ be a kingmaker... so that’s hardly a reason for not entering.

If she doesn’t run, the scumbags in both the MSM and Establishment-GOP will be crowing about how every negative contention they made about her was true, and continue with such babble, trying to actually degrade her status as kingmaker. She’ll do far better out on the stump as a candidate, giving heartburn and occasional body-blows to Obama and the slime in the media.

Mark, you’re brilliant, and I love your words.

I also see her as a “king maker” and if Sarah doesn’t see any “kings” to be made in the field, she’ll step in and take over.
