When did rap become accepted and mainstreamed?

On January 20, 2009.

The day of the King Obama Coronation.

They defended this. What happened did the chief of staff tell them their radicalism is showing and Obama,Jarrett,MO threw lamps but uninvited him?

If someone had shown me those photos ten years ago and told me THAT would be the first lady in 2011 I would have laughed in their face....I still can't believe it's real.

On 9/11, if someone told me that seven years later, Americans were ready to vote for a man named Barack Hussein Obama with no experience and commie background, I would have laughed in their face. I still can't believe it's real.

IF Obama wins a second term , the impetus mass exodus I see will be there but in practical terms it will be harder to pull off than it is now.
That’s the way this kind of enslavement works.

Saying he supports cop killing 3000 times doesnt make it true. This is the logic of Goebbels.

Please just do some research yourself, read the full paragraph of commons verse... it practically ends with a “no time for that, because theres things to be done, stay true to what i do so the youth dream comes”

Do i need to explain what this means?

God its unreal how misinformation spreads so fast, i absolutely hate this GARBAGE! It completely detracts from the real issues and makes republicans who criticise this stupid shit look bad. All for what? A rapper invited to a poetry sitting? REALLY?!

Chapeau Jon Stewart, I think the first 15 mins of his show last night owned the living hell out of fox news. Its embarassing.

Another one under the bus.

I did hear that Common appeared at the evening session, but was ignored.

You have to hand it to the Obamas: if it's not bad judgment, it's bad manners.

Commons supports convicted police killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

(quote of one of his poems)"Use your mind and nine-power, get the government touch Them boys chat-chat on how him pop gun I got the black strap to make the cops run" -- nine-power is a 9mm. Having the black strap to make the cops run means carrying a concealed weapon with the intent on using it against law enforcement officers.

Fantastic. Did Stewart use his trademarked pregnant pauses and impish smirks to clue in the dolts in his audience that it was time for them to laugh at his hilarity? Also, your spelling of "embarassing" is embarrassing, as is your misuse of "its" instead of "it's". Perhaps watching less "Chapeau Jon Stewart" and reading more "books" would help you better disguise your little act here. The rest of your post is irrelevant. I don't care if Common is a bigoted cop-hater, which he is, and he proves in his lyrics. I do care that the President of the United States allows this filth into the people's house. I also wouldn't want Dice Clay to attend a poetry reading at the White House.

Interesting times we live in, when we think Hillary would have been a better president than the one we elected, where we would root for Muamar Qaddafi to win, amd we look back on the days of Bill Clinton with feelings of nostalgia....

Oh no its the grammar police. This is an informal forum and I dont need to make sure I have all the appropriate punctuation because this is an informal setting and you expect people to be able to read something without any excessive use of punctuation.

Thats fine though, it doesnt even bother me because all you could do was attack my post for lack of punctuation and a typo.

Ill reiterate, bush invited johnny cash to the whitehouse and gave him an award for excellency. You might want to listen to some of his lyrics concerning how he wants to kill his wife and take heroin etc..

Of course you probably will defend this or just ignore it alltogether. Where was the uproar about this? This just makes you seem like a hypocrite, which undoubtedly you are. Im sorry I attacked your gay lover sean hannity because he is a hypocrite douchebag who gives conservatives a bad name. Am i not toeing the party line when I dont agree with this bullshit being the focal point when there is much more important issues than this garbage. Especially when hannity takes something completely out of context. Common clearly after saying that line about the cops says VERBATIM:

“no time for that, ‘cause theres things to be done, stay true to what I do, so the youth dreams can come”

The show isnt called chapeau jon stewart. Chapeau, is the french word for hat, and using it like that is similar to saying “hats off to jon stewart”.

Congratulations on trying to insult me, i dont care in any case, you clearly are trash. If you would like to indulge in a conversation in real life where im sure you wouldnt act so “tough” I would be happy to buy your plane ticket to austin, hell ill fly you in first class, im sure that would be a first for you.
Congrats, you have made me lower myself to your pathetic level.

Go on correct my punctuation please..

and he follows those lines with

“no time for that, ‘cause theres things to be done, stay true to what I do, so the youth dreams can come”

He is disavowing what he said, and you quoted. This is whats bothering me, I hate it when people use misinformation or half truths just because it furthers a certain agenda.

Im better than that. Apparently there are people like Carling, and others who are completely fine with lying and cheating to distort the image of the president. Im no fan, not by a long shot, hes probably worse than Jimmy Carter. I always thought we were the party of values and integrity. Recently, im starting to think both parties are the same shit with different names.

And he follows THAT so-called disavowing, with: "Burn a Bush cos’ for peace he no push no button Killing over oil and grease no weapons of destruction How can we follow a leader when this a corrupt one The government’s a g-unit and they might buck young black people Black people In the urban area one I hold up a peace sign, but I carry a gun."

in which he states that former President Bush should be burned, and that he holds up a (presumably false) peace sign but carrys a gun.

This is whats bothering me, I hate it when people use misinformation or half truths just because it furthers a certain agenda. Im better than that. Apparently there are people like you, and others who are completely fine with lying and cheating to support a positive image of the president.

You, sir, are a CONCERN TROLL.

oh my god, its an allusion to the burning bush in the bible. Of course I dont expect Rove to understand that. He was arguing against bush policies, did not mention (unless you misinterpreted burning bush) killing bush.

Or are you going to say that he shouldnt say he is carrying a gun. I KNOW im not hearing that over here!

You, sir, fail.

LIAR. The Quote: "Burn a Bush cos’ for peace he no push no button Killing over oil and grease no weapons of destruction"

A burning bush is in the bible. A burning Bush is a President. Note the capitalization. Furthermore, burning bits of vegetation are not known to push buttons, or kill over oil.

Admin Moderator, I got a feeling about this one. He appears to be -- POSSIBLY -- an infiltrator.

Infiltrator. Because im getting annoyed at the stupidity of this whole story and how people are up in arms when there are more important things to be angry about?

Yes, because id rather have americans focus on the economy and jobs or how about a little aid to the people who need it in the south. OR we can sit and go insane about how this man Common shouldnt be let into the holy house because he has a rap song that can be interpreted in different ways. yes it can be interpreted different ways. If you arent content with the biblical allusion, then why are you so hung up on YOUR interpretation.

Let me break down that line for you.

Burn a Bush. This is clearly the sentence that has bothered people.

The line about cop killing is taken out of context and the full verse has him going on to disavow that and preach for peace.

Lets go back to the Burn a bush. firstly saying you will burn someone can have alot of meanings: it can mean to expose them, to actually burn them or in the context where kids (maybe not as much these days) use it when they make fun of friends or something(although this is similar to exposing and i dont think common meant it the way these kids use it). So its either: a) exposing b)burning

He says “burn AAAAA bush”. Using the word, a, implies that it is NOT a person. Do you say “im going to have lunch with a bush.” or “im going to have lunch with bush”. One of those sentences implies you are going to have lunch with an actual bush, as in shrubbery. Thats why it is interpreted as an allusion to the bible, aswell as exposing bush.

The guy is free to say what he wants, but I dont think he is advocating violence against the president. To say that is disingenuous.

On the accusation that I am an “infiltrator”. Yes, you caught me, I signed up on this site almost a year ago because I was waiting for the day to defend a rapper. YOU GOT ME!
