The Rev. Jacob Jester wasn’t trying to start anything.

But when he saw security screeners at Kansas City International Airport patting down a baby — a baby — he took a picture. And then he shared that picture on Twitter.

It went viral, and voila: Jester’s snapshot is the flashpoint of the day in the debate over who should be considered a threat to the flying public.

Not what he intended, Jester said Tuesday, after the image had been picked up by The Drudge Report and the Daily Mail in London, among others, and viewed nearly 300,000 times.

“I thought it was a curious situation,” said Jester, a pastor at a youth ministry in Independence. “I have a son about the same age — 8 months old — and I thought that I would not want that to happen to my own child.”

The only thing that could have made the photo better is if the screener had been a Muzzie.

I have actually been through the full body hi-res scanner where the operator was a fully veiled young lady - who looked (as much as one could tell from her eyes and nose) Saudi or Iranian. And yes, the airport was in North America!

You have to wonder what they were thinking in the HR department when she applied for the job.

The TSA has caught exactly ZERO terrorists. I have lost two cans of shaving cream, three tubes of toothpaste, three corkscrews and two pairs of nail clippers.

Luckily, the FDO (TSA in a Suit) was former military, came out, and let me go. I've been to LOTS of countries with my P38 on my dog tags, and wasn't about to give it up.

Another flight, I gave him my concealed handgun license, and the TSA agent freaked out.....said "This guys got a gun!"....that brought over more TSA idiots. They said it was an invalid form of ID. I proceed to calm them down and told them that it was a valid ID issued by a state government (hell my mugshot was taken when I was in ACUs).

They still wouldn't take the ID. I told them again that it was a valid Identification card given by one of the 50 states, and that it was a valid form of ID according to TSA.gov/validID.

THEY STILL WOULDN'T take it. By now I had like 10 TSA agents around me. I asked for the TSA SUIT (FDO) and he came up. I explained to him slowly, that with a Driver's license, all I have to do is pass a test and drive. No criminal background check. With a Concealed handgun ID, I have to 1) pay for the class, 2) pay the state, 3) submit fingerprints, 4) go through a federal background check, 5) Go through a state background check, and 6) get a signoff from the local sheriff.

THAT IS more of a background check than TSA agents get!

Anyways, I ended up showing them my passport to get through, shaking my head at the idiots at TSA.

I told them they when they were in the group that they were all a bunch of f**king idiots. I was in uniform and people all around me were clapping and cheering. Unbecoming of an officer, I know, but this was just ridiculous.

Once the stroller set off the explosive alarm, all bets are off.
They’re going to try anything and everything.
We visit family in the area often and KCI is a very unique airport
and has a very unique security situation.
Because of that , security , even with the most updated
screening equipment ,
is much more stringent and intrusive at KCI.
Because it has to be.

The terrorists have used unsuspecting victims before.

So what is the mother doing? Standing there not only surrendering her child but surrendering her liberty as well. Pat down my baby for bombs and contraband? Why sure! Anything for the Motherland! Great idea!
My opinion: no destination, no vacation, no plane flight is worth that. Why didn’t she simply walk back to the ticket counter demand her money back and leave?

And when did Israeli profilers pat Anne Marie Murphy down? When did they check under her maternity clothes for a bomb? You post this to illustrate the need for good security but your post highlights the fact that our TSA system is pitiful and the Israeli system works.
