Research Help: Spiro Agnew a Natural Born Citizen?

Posted on 05/08/2011 8:40:39 AM PDT by rhubarbb

Sorry if this is in the wrong area, this is my first time posting. I'm a long-time lurker who loves FR and I use what I learn all the time against my friends, some of whom (Unfortunately) are liberal. It's the price of going to a big college. I'm really good about speaking the truth to them and showing how they're wrong, and most of my best arguments come from FR. But there's been one question that one of my friends keeps repeating and while I know he's wrong I can't prove it and it's bugging me.

I know the best researchers are here and I figured someone here has figured out how to set the Obama-bots straight on the issue. I've searched through all the other threads on eligibility and didn't find anything.

======

My friend says that Spio Agnew (Nixon's VP) proves that you don't need two citizen parents to be a Natural Born Citizen.

Now, I know that the Vice President must meet the same elgibility requirements as the President, and therefore must also be a Natural Born Citizen (12th Amendment). My friend claims that Spiro Agnew's father was a Greek Citizen when he was born. I've tried to find any information to confirm and deny this, but can't find anything. I know he's wrong (he's a Dem... haha) but need help with the proof.

I can't see Nixon choosing someone, and the Republicans electing, a vice president that was obviously unqualified for office.

So my question:

Is this true? Have one of the researcher's looked into Agnew's citizenship? Did Nixon choose a VP that was not a Natural Born Citizen? And if so, did he hide it like Chester A. Arthur did? I figure that one of the reasons I can't find any information on it might be because he did the "hide your past" thing like Arthur.

Any help would be great and help to take a liberal down!!

Thanks for the graphic.

You bet.

...a double gate keeps the right things in and the right things out. “Natural born citizen” is how our Constitution keeps foreigners and those with foreign loyalties out of the Presidency (and Vice Presidency) and allows only loyal natural-born Americans inside.

Perfectly stated. That logic should be obvious to anyone who bothers to apply the simple power of reason to this question.

That is the stoopidest response I have ever had to a question.

You deem it so and therefore it is?

Being born here may make one a Native Citizen but Barak is not a Natural Born Citizen.

Hugo Chavez, Kim Jong Il or Tony Blair cannot impregnate an American woman and that child can then ascend to the Presidency.

If you think other wise I just don’t get it.

BTW, you have no proof of where he was born.

I personally will concede he was born in Hawaii because I don’t care where he was born.

Trump the clown, looks like an utter and complete buffoon now that the theory has been utterly blown to pieces when Hussein released his long form.

Lots of people look like clowns all the time.

You, for instance, have no clue how the rest of the country defines "long form."

For liberals, progressives and those in Rio Vista, it does NOT mean that the document is 18 inches longer than the previous attempt.

No hospital-produced detailed birth record, subject to authentication, with all the detailed entries customary at the time has yet been submitted.

Let me see.. Hawaii is an AMERICAN STATE... He was born on American soil.. His commie slut of the mother was an American..

Plus this little factoid says otherwise: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode08/usc_sec_08_00001401----000-.html

Interestingly, I found and read one book written in 1921 (free online google books), that surmised the reason Arthur had troubles was that his MUM was not born in Vermont, but Canada, hence the living in Canada for a few years before the move to Vermont.

This was the ONLY book I have found so far that targeted Mummy as the non-citizen, not Daddy.

Dude, have you lost your mind?

That law was passed last year. Barak was born 49 years ago.

Obama is not bound by ex post facto laws.

He is bound by the laws in effect at the time of his birth.

If Hitler came to America, and had cheeruns, would they be eligible?
This is why the citizenship of the parents matter!

That's rather far-fetched. I have a much clearer (and likely) example :

If a Soviet sleeper couple (we have dozens of documented examples) infiltrated the US for the purpose of spying and "defeating" the US, and they became "citizens" and they produced a child on US soil, would he be eligible to run for president?

The birth certificate debate is the dumbest waste of energy ever in American politics.

It's a waste of POLITICAL energy, for sure, but it's not a waste of American energy. It is vitally important to this nation that people with dual citizenship are not elected President.

Those whose priority is politics over nation will claim that it is a waste of time and energy to focus on the NBC issue, because they have concluded that the issue will hurt THEIR politics and their political party.

I conclude there is more danger and harm to our nation if we allow dual citizenship people to become President, than if we allow danger and harm to hit one political party or the other.

Are you more zealous for our nation or for your political party?

Yes, he is that and a “post turtle”.

He did not get where he is by himself, he does not belong there, he does not know what to do there but the real question is what fools put him there? THAT is the question.

And why do some Pubbies defend him? We have been sold-out by a bunch of traitors. The Left and the Globalist Pubbies brought about a Coop.

Now, the question is, what do we the people do about it. The ball is in our court now. We shall see exactly what we are made of.

I lost a lot of respect for Steyn after that tirade/rant.

As I was discussing with someone last night, if obama is encouraged by anything his opponents have done, it is not just our conceding the Constitutional eligibility issue to him. It was when his opposition then took up his cause and began to attack those of us who are not willing to let his ineligibility go.

We make it easy for him to have his way with us and our precious Constitution. He takes our territory and we fall back. He takes our rights and liberty and we fall back. Whatever he does, no matter how outrageous, we fall back.

We are simply the best political opposition and enemies he could ever have hoped for. Not even Clinton was that lucky.

In fact, it's contraindicated by legal precedent, to my knowledge.

Legal precedent, for those of us who can entertain more than a single thought, has been reversed many times, over time, by the Supreme Courts themselves.

You post a vanity and run. Can’t you even respond once with a thank you to those that helped you. Or I guess we can derive our own conclusions as to your sincerity.

I can’t understand why you think this is of interest. The man was never POTUS, nor did he ever campaign to be President.

Wrong area? Why, yes it is. It is no longer relevant.

Either way, Barak Obama was born here, he is an American Citizen by birth therefore case closed.

Assertions are not proof.
Case closed.
