The good news: It’s a heavy blow to the Trump boomlet. The bad news: … none that I can think of, really.
Actually, the bad news is that I lose a vein of easy content to blog. Help me, viral videos, you’re my only hope.
More crosstabs from WaPo. The “Honolulu/Hawaii” column is the big one, obviously:
This poll was conducted before Obama’s announcement of the Bin Laden killing, in case you’re inclined to attribute the huge bounce to goodwill rather than evidence. Needless to say, the key lines are the ones for Republicans and Conservative Republicans; in both groups, the number of Birthers was cut by more than half after the birth certificate revelation. (In fact, it was likely deeper than that. Birtherism had been spiking in the last few weeks since Trump mainstreamed the issue, so it was probably higher than the April 2010 numbers shown here.) I argued a few weeks ago that, contrary to big media’s received wisdom, Birthers aren’t a homogeneous group but rather a mix of hardcore and softcore believers, the latter of which were simply misinformed because they weren’t following the issue closely. These numbers bear that out. Which, for Chris Matthews, means … what? Republicans are racist, but maybe not quite as racist as he thought? What happens to the narrative?
Some people were hassling me in Headlines over this poll because I suggested yesterday in the post about the Bin Laden photos that evidence doesn’t convince skeptics anymore. Fair enough; at the very least, I should have qualified that by specifying that I meant skeptics with an agenda. But give the Birther issue time. I’ll be mighty keen to see if the numbers still look like this in six months — which, theoretically, they should — or if they start to creep back up as discontent with Obama’s policies rises and/or hardcore Birthers regroup and start challenging the long-form birth certificate. Trump had better hope so. Somehow, I don’t see the “trade war with China” platform carrying him to the nomination.

For the purposes of administering the law, the legal father is Barack Hussein Obama I, regardless of whether or not he also happens to be the bilogical father of Barack Hussein II. The legal father is recorded so in the Certificate of Live Birth and the divorce papaers. If there happens to be a different biological father, the law does not care and will not take legal notice until and unless there is a court hearing and court decision ordering a change in the already recorded determiination of the legal father.

The truth is a rather pitiful shield against the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.
Especially when it is just a thread of fantasy that you are holding up as the ultimate shield of truth!

I would like it even more if somehow I could get a piece of the $100.
Do these people who pay $100 for the document now get to vote on Obama’s eligibility?

What use has the world for Honest men? It matters to more of us than the partisans would like you to know. They push for us to ignore the truth, and ridicule us when we won't. They wouldn't get so upset if it wasn't working.

If they exist, there are records for the mom and the baby. So....Even if the hospital claims than no one has a right to access Stanley Ann's records, Obama has a clear right to release **his** own! It is it amazing the deafening silence coming from Kapiolani Hospital? First, it's very unlikely that paper records from 1961 still exist at Kapiolani. The law allows destruction of records prior to 1986 (25 years), if Kapiolani has converted to EMR the destruction of such records is a certainty.
Second, is the "silence from Kapiolani" amazing? Not at all. They have NO obligation to divulge any information that they may still possess, AND they have a very strong (and getting stronger) affirmative obligation not to.

Sorry. I have to leave now. Will check back later this evening. You don't have to trust me, and I don't care if you do or not. Weigh the evidence for yourself. Ask one of the people i've already given a link to to point you in the right direction. Why don't you post it yourself?
I mean, why would you secretly mail it to other, and have them post it publicly for you. It would seem as though it was their idea, and your hands would be clean you wouldn't get any credit at all!
Come now. You know that troll scent makes the kitties hungry. Post publicly what you're trying to hide.

For the past month, Hawaii State Senator Sam Slom, the only Republican in the Hawaiian State Senate, has been trying to get answers from Kapi’olani Medical Center executives as to why the hospital has chosen to put under lock and key a letter from the White House that the hospital should have been proud to receive and display publicly.
In an email exchange with WND, Slom’s office staff confirmed that Martha Smith, the hospital’s chief operating officer, said a copy of the Obama letter is currently hung in the administrative section of the hospital, away from public view, while the original is stored for “safekeeping and preservation.”
When Slom’s office asked if the senator would be permitted to see the original letter, Smith responded in an email, “Nope sorry, we are not going to do that.”
“Nope sorry, we are not going to do that.”
Sen. Slom should try again.

then provide then some value...
Law is not a popularity contest, and facts are not subject to cease being fact, because some portion of the population is either uninformed or just does not agree.
You seem a bit snarky, do you think it would be a good idea for Obama to waive his privacy rights WRT the birth records, and fund a homeless shelter in the process?
Can anyone forward this idea to Trump, He could say “Obama can truly turn this whole thing into a positive for the country... waive his rights to privacy, have Hawaii release certified copies for $115, keep 15 to cover their costs, and donate 100 per ceertified copy to a homeless shelter/women’s shelter. That would be a good way for Obama to turn this whole situation into a positive for Hawaii and the country. (How could Obama turn that down?)

I am a hard core Constitutional conservative -- the Constitution matters to me above all other government machinations -- ergo, I am a birther and have been one long before the term was coined or Obama was installed.
That being said, I am reviewing for myself whether it "is time to drop this issue" or not. By releasing yet another tampered document, Obama has stolen some wind from the sails of the effort. However, people are catching on relatively quickly that this is yet another "manufactured" document. That will seed further resentment. And, regardless of whether the certificate was "forged" or "scanned", the document specifies non-citizen parentage. That irks me.
The Constitution is law. It is the Supreme Law of the Land. It cannot be changed or re-interpreted without formal Amendment. Legally, it must be read through the lens of original intent.
As such, there is *only* one class of people that are without question "Natural Born" citizens, and those are the children born on U.S. soil of parents who are citizens. There is doubt as to all other classes (a genuine dispute) of which mention has been made by various historic legislators and justices. And, if the matter were ever to be successfully adjudicated on its merits, I firmly believe Obama -- any so termed "anchor baby" for that matter -- would not pass Constitutional muster for the Executive Office. (Remember Obama's mother was legally shy of sufficient age to pass citizenship on to her newborn via parenthood.)
To turn a blind eye to this dispute because Obama is not altogether "white", is racist. To turn a blind eye to this because "no one's going to do anything anyway" is apathy, And to turn a blind eye to this because it has limited political value, devalues the Constitution itself.
If this issue has "0 political power" as you say, I am still not convinced we have a valid reason to drop it. If our ambition as a nation is to be "post racial", "self governed", and "adherent to the Constitution" (and I do think these are some of our goals and span political parties) we fail on all three counts by dropping it.

Hospital medical records may be destroyed 25 years after last contact. Since the switch to EMR, places that have ignored the old boxes in the basement have been very aggressive about it.
It is very, VERY unlikely that any records of any nature from 1961 are present at Kapiolani.

As one who has been adopted, I'm fully aware that you can put all sorts of false information on a legal document, and it's still good enough for the legal system. As a person who prefers reality over sophistic legal arguments, It makes a difference to me what the REAL reality is.

I think he suspects. I don't think he knows. I think he knows. It explains much of his behavior regarding his Half Brother living in a shack in Kenya (Hey Bro! Spread some wealth around why doncha?) and his impoverished Aunt living in Boston.
He doesn't care because he knows they aren't blood.

When the truck is bearing down on you - and you stand your ground because you KNOW you have the right of way - I hope being “right” is a good comfort to you.
When you lead people to their political destruction - while promising them political deliverance - the lame excuse that “we were seeking the truth” is exactly that - a lame excuse for leading people into a dead end.
Your so called “truth” is especially facile - in that all it would do is muddy the waters as well as taking away the fall back argument of the “Where is the Birth Certificate?” crowd - namely that he had one non-citizen parent.
Good luck with that!
