There’s a lot about the White House’s account that doesn’t quite add up. I’m not just talking about the changing story that led spokesman Jay Carney to admit: “Even I’m getting confused”. The erroneous details that Osama bin Laden was armed (he wasn’t), that his wife was used as a human shield (she wasn’t), that his wife was killed (she wasn’t) can be put down to over-egging the pudding or, if you’re feeling generous, the fog of war.
What I’m talking about is the bigger picture of how bin Laden was discovered and who was killed in that compound. Don’t worry, I’m not a “Deather”. It seems incontrovertible that bin Laden is indeed sleeping with the fishes. But what about the others - the Sheikh Abu Ahmed, also known as Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti – his brother, bin Laden’s son Hamza and bin Laden’s wife?
This is just a hunch but it seems to me that a plausible conclusion to be drawn from the confusing and opaque mass of detail is that Abu Ahmed, his brother or bin Laden’s own son betrayed him and is currently being given a new identity as he prepares to collect the $27 million reward for the al-Qaeda leader’s scalp.

I think the story is that the nickname, or name of a trusted OBL courier was learned from Gitmo Detainees. Then it took years to learn who the courier actually was, and that was followed by phone calls of relatives being intercepted and other data until the courier was finally identified and agents begin following his movements. That eventually led to the walled compound and the fact that OBL was living there.
That's a weird article in the Telegraph that seems pretty far fetched.
Usually, it is the earliest account that is true as the spin doctors take over soon after. In this case, there was NO news story. Everything has been hearsay and the reporting has merely been reporting of statements from the White House. By the time we heard about OBL's death, his body too had been disposed of.

Because the "White House story doesn't add up" part got my attention. The deathers were on my nerves from the first minute they crawled out of their slimy holes. bin Laden is dead. Out military shot him. Everybody should be happy but everybody is not. I can't control how some idiots feel but I sure as hell can let them know that not everybody on FR wears a tin foil hat and believes every damn conspiracy theory that flows down the pipe.
All we know is that Obama claims that is the case. The White House has made many statements some of which contradict others. You choose to believe some while discarding some. How do you make that choice? You consider as truth whatever makes you feel good and discard whatever makes you feel bad? Is it all about feelings?
It’s surreal... it is almost like an Orwellian novel.

You are not a dumb blonde by any stretch and you could not be more right. It is painful sometimes trying to follow a breaking news story because typically those who talk the most (to the media) know the least. The media is so anxious to break a new “fact” on a hot story that they rush to report anything and rarely get it right.
We see it happen over and over. It feeds conspiracy theories and makes too many rush to judgment based on incomplete or wrong information.
A story like this is unfortunately formed in the first 24 hour news cycle when the least reliable information is available.
He is dead.... likely from a double tap. The rest of it is just media noise. Kudos to the intel folks and troops for making it happen.

I’ll go way out on a limb here too(since the article asks for ‘theories’).....
I can’t get over the feeling that Osama was being held by the Paks all this time and some lib ‘progressives’ in the CIA (probably the sames ones that were always undermining Bush) have been assisting in this ‘arrangement’ for years...therefore not giving Bush his opportunity to capture or kill Osama and now it was time for it to happen to help a ‘progressive’ dem president. Our military was probably duped by the same story they have been telling everyone(Gates doesn’t seem that bright to me)...that it came from intel gathered at Gitmo etc. Now the changed story on that says the info came from foreign rendention stations,etc.
Their timeline on when the intel came in has been all over the map too.
Perhaps the story is coming unglued because our intelligence guys at the DOD are figuring it out now with the after action reports and such. They are leaking facts that don’t go with the administration’s and CIA narrative. No wonder Obama wants Panetta over at the DOD now....to get rid of anyone that might not be loyal to all of the lies and planned confusion that this administration is all about.
Panetta is a slippery eel and so are some elements of our
own CIA. I haven’t forgotten all the lying leaks about President Bush and Cheney that came from there. The same people probably helped orchestrate the whole niger cake and missing WMD crap.
Just sayin........since this is a ‘add your speculation’ too type of thread. It is very surprising to find the writer of this lib rag speculationg at all about Obama’s story. I thought they just usually bended over to gather ‘news’ from this administration?

Nope. YOU are the dude caught up in “feelings”. I just stated the facts as presented by multiple sources AND not contradicted by any dude in uniform. (if we hadn’t got the SOB, then some soldier would have blown the whistle by now.)

Read somewhere in the voluminous reporting, that the Pakistanis are saying one of the tenants of the compound was taken out alive (denied by the U.S.)...maybe the snitch and he’ll collect the reward???
Part of the confusion, I believe is occurring because the administration wanted bin Laden dead, but international law being what it is (see der Spiegel), is questioning the legality of the kill. I think this is why they first said bin Laden had a gun, so it was okay to kill him. Then the truth starts coming out and they have to retract some of what was said at first.
