WASHINGTON (AP) -- The White House says the photograph of a dead Osama bin Laden is "gruesome" and that "it could be inflammatory" if released.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said the White House is mulling whether to make the photo public, but he said officials are concerned about the "sensitivity" of doing so.

THAT’S “Gruesome”?! Americans jumping from 90 stories is gruesome! Trying to make a last phone call to your loved ones before being burned alive is gruesome! Having your head sawed off with a knife while a group of muzzies chants behind you is gruesome! Having the CinC threaten to cut off the families of military personnel at the exact time these brave SEALS are training to take this scum out is gruesome! Not putting your hand over your heart during the Pledge of Allegiance, taking “under God” out of the oath of office, knowing that the kenyan is seated in the same office where Ronald Reagan once sat...that’s “gruesome”!!
Then, you have the freedom not to view the pics. I resent this administration deciding for me what I'm able to handle, which is what they're insinuating with their asinine statements about how gory they are.
But, you needn't concern yourself. Based on the statements coming from the WH, nothing is forthcoming.
I not only want to see the picture, I want to see the same video that was sent to Obama, Biden, etc. from the camera mounted on the helmet of one of the Navy Seals.
I said that in Bible class this morning and was accused of being insensitive and morbid. Teacher said oh, he would never want to watch anything like that, etc. etc.
I said ‘I wouldn’t want to see somebody’s head being sawed off’ but this was a clean shot, relatively merciful.
But he always takes up for Muslims, dunno why.
I never implied, nor do I think, anyone wants to just see a bloody corpse. I think people don’t believe he’s dead. As for the idiot muslims who don’t believe, who gives a crap? They don’t believe Bin Laden was behind 9/11. But relying on a picture to be assured he is dead is very naive. Photos as so easily doctored. If he wasn’t dead, that means the SEALs are in on the hoax. I don’t believe that they would go along with that, do you?
The WH doesn’t care what you or I think - they are concerned about inflaming the muslims, not that it takes much. I would think knowing Bin Laden is dead would inflame them anyway. The WH already said they will release a picture and the burial video. But the doubters still won’t be convinced. I hope American blow up the picture and parade it around Ground Zero, especially in front of the building that is going to be a mosque. I enjoy seeing muslims freaked out. But I don’t need to see a picture to believe he’s dead. I doubt the SEALs would lie about it. And Bin Laden, if he were still alive, could easily prove he is.
Agreed. While we're at it, let's ask the families of the Americans killed, dragged through the streets, burned, then strung up on that bridge. They didn't have issues releasing those images.
Yep. And until he releases these photos I'm calling BS. This idiot wants to b#tch about "distractions" when he's helping facilitate theories because he hides information.
Double Hypocrisy:Used Bush interrogation techniques; continues with the non-transparency.
Our heroes dragged to their death in Somalia.
Damn this president for caring more for muslim sensibilities than America’s broken hearts.
In cases of Americans killed, we return them home to their families for a proper burial. And we do have a right to pay our respects at that time if we choose.
In this case, the American people are being kept in the dark. I don't suggest that there's any real cover-up or anything. But I believe that the left is trying to reconcile the congratulations they are receiving for successfully completing this mission, while trying not to reveal the reality of what this mission required.
They wanted to show the coffins of the fallen soldiers because they thought it would be a political advantage against the GOP. Now they fear the release of the bin Laden photo will take the veil of the good feelings they are receiving from their supporters.
The bottom line is we have a right to know what our military is doing, as long as it doesn't endanger ongoing operations. The only reason the Obama administration is hesitant to release the photo is that in their core, they are ashamed of what our military does, and while they can control the narrative through words, the pictures reveal a harsher truth. War is ugly. They didn't mind reminding us, though, when Bush was president.
“If he wasnt dead, that means the SEALs are in on the hoax. I dont believe that they would go along with that, do you?”
I don’t. I think they are still men of honor. However, I do like to see my enemies dead. It imparts a sense of finality.
Okay - hopefully they will release the photos so you will feel better.
Meanwhile, Bin Laden is dead.
It’s the Internet age. A lot of us have seen “two girls, one cup”—and in many cases tricked into it. Not to mention what has been on ogrish.com. What could possibly be more “gruesome” at this point?
We tick off Muslims just for breathing and existing.
I want to see it for me because this whole thing was handled with a lot of haste IMO.
I could care less what they think..they want us dead that’s all that matters.
the guy was shot and killed, at least once in the face. That is already common knowledge. We shouldn’t worry about sensitivities when we are hunting down and killing enemies. Let’s see the pics so the world knows how we deal with our enemies.
That’s the one Savage had on his website.
I saw that. Never felt so much rage in my life.
Do you believe Bin Laden was killed in the raid?
Anyone remember Nick Berg?

To be honest, I don’t know what to believe until I see the photos.
