WASHINGTON (AP) -- The White House says the photograph of a dead Osama bin Laden is "gruesome" and that "it could be inflammatory" if released.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said the White House is mulling whether to make the photo public, but he said officials are concerned about the "sensitivity" of doing so.

It’s pretty bad. I looked at it with very blurred eyes and that was enough for me to see a) it’s him and b) he’s dead. Satisfied. I hope I don’t see it again.
They had no problem with the Abu Ghraib pictures. They used the sensitivity excuse not to show pictures of 9/11/01, too, and that should have been shown everyday. Sensitivity is the catchword which gives us political correctness as a controlling mechanism.
Just like the birth certificate, withholding information gives rise to suspicion. As Reagan said, quoting an old Russian adage, Trust but Verify.

So if they see a picture, they will believe? Just don’t tell them about “photoshop”, okay? Why do we care what they believe? They believe the “Jews” were behind 9/11. I am really disappointed with a lot of Freepers over this.
Suck it up, Washington. War is hell and there’s no sugar coating it. While I didn’t open the box my son came home in, the autopsy report paints a pretty vivid image. I’d like to have a picture of Bin Laden to compare it to.

What exactly did the White House think would happen when it sent in a team to kill him?
Did they think we we're going to sit around the campfire, light some candles, sing a few hymns while bin Laden ingested a bunch of oxycontin? Did they think we were going to strap him on a gurney and hook him up to potassium chloride?
Geez, maybe next time we need to kill a terrorist, we send in Michael Jackson's doctor instead of the SEALS. The pictures won't be as gruesome!

I’ll look at it if it’s released. I don’t need to see it to believe he’s dead, though. There have already been fake photos released. Some people won’t be convinced no matter what. I hope it’s released just to tick off muslims.
