My unhappy thoughts and observations, for what it's worth.

Hey, since we're all just posting our random thoughts as if they mean something, here are mine:

I see the problem with FR as being exactly the opposite of the problem you see. The way I see it, as our circumstances get more dire, and the threat to our country, our culture, and our way of life increases exponentially, there are a large number of Freepers who want to pretend that it is business as usual, that the politics of today are just like they were in the old days, where Democrat vs. Republican was just chess match between gentlemen and the outcome would not make or break us. Well, we have quite literally come to a moment where the outcome of all the political efforts will either destroy us, or, at best, limp us back toward safe ground. There is no safe status quo anymore. We are up against ideologies that want to destroy this country and everything it stands for and has ever stood for, and adherents to those ideologies are now the majority in our government at all levels.

Amid this perilous environment, one would think that so-called conservative patriots, as we supposedly have here, would recognize the threat and adapt. And we do have quite a few who fit that description. However, we also have Freepers such as yourself who simply cannot adapt to the idea that our government is no longer on our side, if it ever was, that the stakes have been raised, and that greater effort on the part of the enemy calls for greater response on our side. Instead, many Freepers want to continue along the same comfortable path they have traveled their whole lives: bitching about the government but never doing anything about it, watching the lies, deception, illegal behavior, disregard for the rights of the people, disregard for the law at all levels perpetrated by our government entities, and yet refusing to go to the next logical level of thought and accepting that our government is no longer legitimate, cannot be trusted, and must be reset.

In short, there are quite a few Freepers too scared to even consider the possibility of Obama's ineligibility, or the possibility that this Osama thing is just a ploy, or the possibility that Cloward-Piven is being rammed down our throats, or the national treasury purposefully looted, and any number of other crimes against the people of the United States, because that consideration would require them to accept something they desperately do not want to believe, because if they were to believe it, they would have to either act or feel like a coward. They would much rather close their eyes and go back to their comfortable lives watching TV and mowing the lawn.

This is a discussion forum. Ideas are discussed here. Possibilities are discussed here. If you don't like that, if the topics discussed frighten you, then leave.

Huck, what you saw was a natural reaction to a bastard President making it political from minute one. I. I. I. I. Me. We also watched the idiot media bashing Bush and exhaulting Obama. Obama certainly deserves credit for his role in this, and few would deny that. What good patriotic Americans at FR and elsewhere are expressing in relation to the narcissistic reaction of the left is both real and natural. We have an egomaniac taking full credit because he thinks this is his ticket to more power.

I agree Huck, but it was also a “sad” day on FB. I told people that I would not tolerate Bush/Obama bashing on MY wall and that for a day all I was going to do was celebrate America's victory and think of the victims of 9-11. Some didn't listen and after a few warning, I deleted and blocked them. One kept trashing Obama, two kept trashing Bush. Good riddance.

How do you know he’s killed?

Might just be a cover story for abusing another Countries Sovereignty...

I’ve seen no proof Bin Laden is dead.

Hope it’s better than the b.c. proof.

I tend to agree. The tin foil hat crowd was much more active than usual, likely because they had a new “conspiracy” to rail about. Anyone who thinks it made sense to fake OBL’s death is not thinking clearly and IMO has contracted Obama derangement syndrome. OBL’s death made my week and Obama is due a small amount of credit for not screwing up the operation.

Huck, I sometimes regret checking in here too, and seeing the tone. (Note my tagline.)

But if there’s more than one opinion on FR and some of us are so politically sensitized as to suspect anything 0bama says or does, why is that such a poke in the eye?

Frankly I’m more annoyed that no one here was outraged by the abortion joke at the correspondents’ dinner the other night.

Furthermore, many of us spend time here in the echo chamber that would be better spent writing to legislators or improving our local govts.

I recommend you do that rather than complain about partisanship and tinfoil. Consider writing one letter to your congressman for every post you write here. It’s more productive.

It seems that Obama takes every opportunity to do things in the **least** transparent manner. Geeze! You wonder why some here on Free Republic are exasperated?

1) It is a **simple** matter to prove one’s natural born citizenship. Unanointed Americans do it every day! Obama first posts a forged COLB, sends a man to prison, ruins Major Cook's career, and then posts second “birth certificate” with nothing controversial that is filled with kerning, layers, and in a form and manner that presents many opportunities for mischief.

None of the above was necessary. All of the above could have, and should have, been completely resolved during the election with immediate release of all of the **best** and certifiable evidence. Obama has **never** done that.

Then with the death of Osama bin Laden, Obama then **again** goes about it in the LEAST transparent manner imaginable!

Obama is a sadist, uses every event for future political posturing and advantage, or is an idiot. Maybe he is all three.

In my business, I deal with the public. Yesterday - everyone that talked about OBL (mostly unprovoked by me - although I did have Rush playing on the radio) - voiced doubts about it happening the way the government and news media reported that it did.

I don’t think this is just a FReeper thing - I think there are an awful lot of people in the country that don’t trust what they hear anymore. It’s not just crazy conspiracy nuts - it’s the general public! I agree with you, it’s very sad that we’ve come to this - but it is what it is.

I’m glad the bastard’s dead - but I’m not happy that he got a “respectful” burial - - I’m not happy that they won’t release photos of him for fear of “inflaming Islamic sensibilities”. If this is truly the case - then it doesn’t matter that we killed OBL - we won that battle, but we’ve lost the war.

Don’t blame FReepers for voicing what everyone is thinking right now.

I find myself lately as one of those who quickly wanders into conspiracy land. Its not a choice that I've intentionally made. I used to laugh at the craziness of characters like Alex Jones. I still don't subscribe to about 90% of what people like him say but I do not take the news at face value anymore.

I can remember the exact moment vividly when I lost my so called faith in our govt. It was when the courts and state and fed gov sat back and let Terry Schiavo starve to death. Remember she was the woman who was in a coma for so many years, cant remember exactly now. Her husband had moved on and was living with another woman. The husband wanted Terry to be pulled off life support so he could remarry. The courts sided with him , even though Terry's parents were willing to take care of her. It was never clear as to what Terry's wishes were on if she wanted to live on life support or have the plug pulled. Anyway the courts pulled the plug and she slowly withered away and starved to death. While so called laws let this happen and many political people cried havoc for this not a single person took action to stop this. This was my “epiphany” moment and have never since trusted anything the govt does.

So while I'm glad Osama is dead and I have the utmost respect for our military, I do not blindly accept this news when Obama comes and TV and says its so without any proof and a body quickly dumped out to sea. This govt is in business for itself and will squash anyone that tries to oppose it. They will lie and cheat and say whatever they want to get they want. If that makes me a tin foil person then so be it. But I've been an adult long enough now to see what these politicians are capable of.

I agree. I loathe Obama. It is beginning to seem as if many here loathe our entire government. I would love to see our government cut by 50%, but I don’t hate it. I spent 25 years in the military. It has its faults, but it isn’t a corrupt tool of evil.

I don’t give Obama ANY credit for Osama’s death. I think his policies were counterproductive to killing Osama...but I was very glad to see Osama dead. If Obama is given credit by some of our brain dead voters...oh well. Those are the same voters who were unmoved by Rev Wright.

I used to consider it the mark of a liberal to view every event as a political event. It seems that attitude - politics uber alles - has taken over some who claim to be conservative.

Disagree. Yesterday Free Republic functioned just fine. All the participants did what they are known for, expected to do, and did it well.

You don’t like some of what they did? You don’t like some of their/our opinions? Your opinion is also part of Free Republic, and you’ve done your duty for the cause as did the others.

Free Republic works whether it’s in the positive in your opinion, or in the negative in your opinion.

I noted your remark about an Opus, and so be it. I think it’s pretty stupid to jump off the opinion bandwagon such as FR over your perception of the opinions of others. “H” that’s what we all are here for.

I for one posted my suspicions, and that I am taking a wait and see attitude. I personally think it unwise to jump onto the joy wagon because of information dispersed by a serial liar such as Obama without one iota of proof to back it up.

Some say well I wouldn’t call Navy Seal’s liars, but then when did the Seal’s tell us at this point that they did as was reported? They didn’t. Obama reported they did it. He’s the one with the track record as Liar in Chief.

Get over it. Your vanity post shows you want to participate. So keep up the participation, or Opus out. You’ve been a participant for a long time. Makes no sense to Opus out over this.

Shame on us; we should have at least given the regime time to get their stories consolidated and straight. I happy that I don’t have to hear about the boogy man anymore, now if Obama will just STFU.

Well, I must admit I am glad he is gone, and I haven’t expressed it enough here. I have been generally mistrustful of Obama, and this is another case where he has made it about himself. I also am not thrilled about our Navy conducting a Muslim funeral for him (it is hard to accept this aspect in particular). Obama ruins everything he touches.

Huck,

I am a New Yorker too. I agree with you about the tone here on FR, but with what we have seen our elected officials do in the last decade has even the most naive and easy going people I know more cynical, negative, and depressed that at any other time. I’m not making excuses for bad behavior, however, when have so many people been out of work, watched their life savings destroyed, their home values drop to levels that may take a decade to recover (if ever), the growing attacks on people of faith, the mind-rotting reality TV programming, moral relativism, the whittling away of our constitution and civil liberties and the mass propaganda machine called our liberal media which feeds the mood.

I now know how Winston Smith could succumb and learn to love Big Brother.

That doesn’t make it right, I’m just saying.....

Yesterday should have been a glorious day around here. There should have been fireworks and celebration. There should have been somber remembrances. There should have been patriotic tributes. There should have been shared joy at the news that our guys had finally gotten Bin Laden.

And that's what our overlord wannabes in Washington would also like to see. Plug back into the Matrix of American Decline in celebratory bliss while they continue to lie, cheat, steal, and spin this story of military heroism to their own benefit in 2012.

It's hard to celebrate Osama's demise when equally dangerous domestic enemies called Politicians are pushing (or not resisting much) America towards financial/social collapse if not outright revolution/civil war.

Take the Founders' red pill, FRiend.
