Canada actually has a party officially named the "Rhino" party.

Ashfield won in our riding again. He’s been an OK guy.

And Count Iggula got tossed out of his own riding! Get thy @$$ back to Harvard and don’t let the door hit it on the way out!

What’s this, another Maritimer??? It’s a good night for us, huh?

Awesome! He is about as Canadian as Obama is American.

Michael Ignatieff is a gigantic loser, both in this election and evidently in life as well.

You can keep him, the US doesn’t want him back! :P

Iggy’s on Sun News Channel right now, looking like he’s reading the eulogy for his own funeral.

I still remember drinking at the Hilltop Pub when I was 17, then going to Harvey’s trying to eat enough grease to sober up ;-)

Is it difficult to immigrate to Canada for Americans?

Does any one on this thread know?

Hilltop’s still around, though they completely redid their entrance a few years back. Those old concrete steps were famous, or infamous, around town, especially if you got chucked down them by the bouncer.

This is one long, depressing speech. Someone grab the hook to yank him off stage.

Not sure about today. I lived there from age 13-22 and we were sponsored by my Mom's family. I remember Mom jumping through a lot of hoops, especially proving financial stability. This was 1975-1976. I'd say the process from first application to actually getting our passports stamped was almost two years.

Unless you have a killer job lined up, I would advise against it. Remember, health care is a huge issue, and the laws are very different in some areas. Forget about owning a handgun and be ready to register your long guns in a federal registry. Then there are regional differences. You sure don't want to live in Quebec, for obvious reasons; the Maritimes are like Appalachia; urban Ontario is like NYC/NJ, BC is like California. The only place most Americans would feel comfortable in, IMHO is Alberta.

If their [legal] immigration policy is anything like ours, if you're white, literate, and come from a 1st world nation, you go to the back of the line.

But I am curious, also, to hear the answer to your question.

That only happened once. I was wearing my Mount A jacket while visiting my girlfriend who was at UNB. Shenanigans ensued over the hockey teams from both schools.

I miss those days.

In retrospect, the Liberals and Bloc (especially the Bloc) probably regret voting for that no-confidence motion...

Yeah, I bet there’ll be a lot of shouting in the Liberal backrooms tomorrow.

Remember 1993, though, when the PCs won exactly TWO seats and lost 167. Obviously the Reform Party was responsible for a lot of that, but even without that factor, the PCs would still have come in a distant third.

Let's face it; the Alliance is the only reason there's a CPC today.

The CPC isn’t really the Tory party of old. That party died a long time ago. Now it seems it’s the Liberals’ turn. Political parties, however great, have a life cycle. They may be at the end of their and join the Whigs in oblivion.

True. Kim Campbell and Jean Charest presided over its death along with the ever-losing Joe Clark to bury it. Thank God Harper and the Alliance were around to start fresh.
