Why bring the body back when all you need is a tissue sample. DNA doesn't require a body, it literally only requires a cell.
And, if you bring the body back, the transpo time alone exceeds the Islamic burial standard. Why unnecessarily poke our enemy in the eye, creating a point of sympathy for bin Laden adherents in that part of the world.
The burial at sea makes COMPLETE sense. No, it's not entirely in the Muslim tradition, but it does foreclose the possibility of a large shrine being built to house the "martyr". The burial at sea is something of a stroke of genius.
There is no genius to it. Now they can have a thousand shrines facing the sea in honor of him. Capitulating to the 24 burial rule made the United States seem weak and timid.
I am sure he got respectful burial at sea with all the religious traditions intact. With a white sheet wrapped around his body and Koran in hand, he was gently lowered into the sea. I am sure he had a Muslim Imam blessing the body and providing a service to make sure that Osama can enter Jannah (their Heaven).
All this bought and paid for by the United States government is beyond reproach! This is after the presidents words of Osama not being representative of Muslims, but a killer of Muslims (this made me cringe that he had to go out of his way to be politically correct). Obama has to ruin everything, he just cant man up and do something right.
Oh, it exceeds the burial time of Islam? Screw Islam. I think a full examination of the body should have been done. Who says this wasn’t a relative of OBL and who says they had his body in the first place? He has dozens of family over there and it could be any one of them. I think it’s all fair in love and war to poke your enemy in the eye and stomp on their feet and cut their throats when they are the ones who kill innocents in their jihad against our nation. Maybe I am the eye for an eye type and am not willing to kiss their asses like some of you that come here from MoveOn.org. Maybe you should go post where your liberal brothers and sisters would feel the same way you do.
When I am out in San Fran in October I’m going to piss in the ocean and hope that it floats around to OBL. After eating a pork chop of course.
I accept this action by the military, as directed by their civilian leadership, only in the sense that good Christians do not mock or needlessly violate the dead. Concur on your view of the unecessary requirment to maintain the corpse. And I guarantee this was one of the most photographed/filmed events of the modern era. Hell, everything is filmed in some fashion these days.
We'll see all the grisly detail in time.
Muzzie law #623 says burial at sea is only acceptable if the body can’t be preserved for burial on land. Since it’s not the 7th century, we have refrigerators. Now the body is conveniently unavailable to show proof to cynical and skeptical Patriots that believe nothing coming out of the lying mouth of BO.
Why unnecessarily poke our enemy in the eye,
LOL
“Why bring the body back when all you need is a tissue sample. DNA doesn’t require a body, it literally only requires a cell.”
But that doesn’t prove OBL was actually killed.
“And, if you bring the body back, the transpo time alone exceeds the Islamic burial standard. Why unnecessarily poke our enemy in the eye, creating a point of sympathy for bin Laden adherents in that part of the world.”
Because if those muslims don’t believe that he was actually killed, they will believe that the whole thing was a hoax in a desperate attempt to make the US look competent.
