Commenting on the death of Osama Bin Laden, Rep. Gary Ackerman has gloated: "this is the 'Mission Accomplished' moment President Bush only fantasized about." Could the Dem from New York have gotten the inspiration for his taunt from Andrea Mitchell?
The question arises because in the run-up to President Obama's announcement last night, Mitchell said something similar, if not quite as pointedly partisan.
Not only did Mitchell throw Mission Accomplished in Pres. Bush's face, she also, for purposes of taking another slap at Pres. Bush, misrepresented the history of Tora Bora. Mitchell claimed that John Kerry made it a 2004 campaign issue on the basis that OBL could have been killed or captured there "if troops had not been moved to Iraq." But the Battle of Tora Bora took place in 2001 and the Iraq war didn't start until 2003.

So, I suppose Harry Truman gets all the credit fir winning WWII
Maybe these people should remember that Mr. Obama voted against the war so we would not even have had the chance to get Bin Laden if our military was not in the Region.
Yeah the ugly witch was doing her best immitation of a journalist last night.
OBAMA didn’t get OBL, the NAVY SEALS DID.
I HAVE TO ADMIT I DO LOVE THIR SENSE OF HUMOR. reports are that they asked obl if he wanted to surrender, BEFORE THEY BLEW HIS ASS TO HELL. bad luck Holder, can’t charge them with excessive force hehehehehe
Classic!
What media bias?
Team Obama...still running against Bush.
I'm hearing info came from KSM, he told who this courier was, then we tracked him.
Info from Gitmo
Info from one of the few men Waterboarded
WOW
Angria Mitchel is not the only person to say Mission Accomplished on NBC last night. A man, forgot who, said it too. When she said it with her ugly snear on her face, I switched to Fox news.
If it was Clinton or Obama in office when 9/11 happened, they would have done the tried and failed "hug it out" strategy with terrorists thugs.
Andrea, you really think Clinton and Obama would have taken it to the terrorists thugs? You don't have to answer Andrea because you know deep down they would have done nothing... they would have done nothing and let America and its interests get kicked over and over with no consequences.
I say again... Andrea... FU!
When will Mr Andrea Mitchell (ala Alan Greenspan) stand next to a chart of our ruined economy with a “Mission Accomplished” sign?
BTW- Thanks President Bush- a little forced muslo-fascist gargling session at GITMO produced the results intended
She can go to hell.
Mission Accomplished was for the ship which had completed its tour of duty in the Middle East after being out for a long period. It is unfortunate that the liberal media have tied it to President Bush and claim he used it to say the work in Iraq was complete. If they were honest, which they aren’t, they would report it accurately. Andrea Mitchell is a shameless liberal who can’t stop taking shots at President Bush who was an honorable man and a great President.
That one probably is dumb enough and biased enough to think that. So, when was it Obama created the Navy Seal teams to be used for such special ops?
“Never let up! This is ALL politics with this guy and his supporters. They couldnt give a rats ass about America.”
You have to give Obama credit. He did what Clinton failed to do which is go into a sovergn nation and kill a terrorist. Clinton said we couldn’t do it because of the law. I would assume then that either Clinton lied to the country or Obama broke the law.
I am sure the MSM is going to ask that question... hahahahaha.
Disgusting, smelly old warn out hag! Spit!
Andrea ,You twit that sign was for the aircraft carrier’s mission.
Someone might remind Andrea that if Clinton had accepted Osama when the Sudan offered to hand him over, 9/11 would never have happened.
Actually, it’s quite the opposite from what Couric thinks.
It may be a great theatre and symbolism, but there is very little substance.
For all intents and purposes, Osama has been “dead” / irrelevant to the al-Qaeda operations since al-Qaeda lost more than 90% of their recruits in Iraq. YES, in Iraq was where the “mission accomplished” became reality!
Today, the al-Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood and their offshoots are resurgent in Africa and Middle East because of Obama’s policy of “leading from behind”.
Unless Obama is ready to declare the WOT “mission accomplished” because of “certified” death of bin Laden, when it’s obviously gotten much worse and hotter not just on his watch but because of his words and actions, I don’t see what could be their reason for gloating at destroying one symbol, especially when the discovery and the tracking of the courier began under Bush, due to interrogations of enemy combatants detainees (something they loudly protested).
They weren’t even sure at the beginning of the operation that it was bin Laden, only that it was probably a HVT. In other words, would we even hear about this (and possibly other operations) if this turned out not to be “bin Laden”?
But, if the symbolism is what makes these children happy, then “mission accomplished,” indeed...
Just like the 1995 OKC bombing, after the “shellacking” loss of Congress, was the turnaround point for Bill Clinton, Obama will try to use this operation as a turning point of his reelection campaign.
BTW, if this happens to be not Osama bin Laden, both sides in WOT might have an interest in keeping him “certifiably dead”.
