Trump to China: “Listen, you motherf***ers, we’re going to tax you 25 percent”
Hot Air ^ | April 28, 2011 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Via Mediaite, which has excerpts from last night’s F-bomb cavalcade. One of our commenters in Headlines watched the clip and observed that Trump is basically a leftist caricature of Republicans brought to life. Precisely — but with the caveat that something like 20 percent of the GOP wants to embrace the caricature. (That number might already be slipping.) He knows he’s too compromised on conservative principles to get traction with the base so he overcompensates with tell-it-like-it-is populist bravado aimed at framing himself as the ultimate regular-guy outsider. Calling the Chinese MFers is the logical extension of that; if he can’t address economic anxieties with a serious policy solution, at least he can do it with rhetorical empowerment. That’s why Reagan, who did have a serious Cold War strategy, didn’t have to say “Tear down this motherf***ing wall” instead.

Just to follow up on the point about leftist caricature, though, I’m intrigued by this tidbit from his trip to New Hampshire:

“haha...china own you... “

Close, they own me and 329,999,999 other people here.

If you can’t understand that, you’ll find out soon enough, either through the Trump Tax or the dollar crashing.

WOW, this possible Presidential candidate is beginning to sound a heck of a lot like the political version of Charlie Sheen.

Yup.....Just sayin'

You have a problem with free speech? No cares who's camp you are in or who you vote for . Fist fights , beatings and gunshots ? Sounds like your average union rally without the gunshots . Did you complain about the Ca. political hack who suggested Gov Brown shoot some republicans who won't vote for their plan. Maybe that will lead to tanks and drones.

You sound like you don’t give a crap that countries restrict our imports.

I don't think you know me or what I give a crap about.

I believe in free markets. I'm OK with retaliatory tariffs, but only in the sense that they serve to reduce tariffs in both directions.

“I have become convinced he is a Soros-paid plant intended to mount a Ross Perot-like challenge, and siphon of many percentage points so that Obama can squeak through again.”

Yea, it’s pretty obvious that’s the case. He can’t disown his past and he can say anything now...especially populist stuff. The media won’t touch him because they know full-well that he’s Obama’s ticket for winning 2012.

It’s sad that Republicans can’t see through him. The facts that he’s likely to run independent, and has a lot of money, and has no Democrat support (and doesn’t seem to want anyone), make it clear that his only goal is to indeed split the Republican vote. Just like Perot, but he’s even doing better at it, since he’s not even bothering to appeal to Democrats.

Frankly there's nothing about him I could ever relate to on a personal level, and I would shun that ostentatiousness. His daughter and son impress me more than he does.

You could be right about Walmart, never thought about it that way. They do fill a need for people I shouldn't hold grudges anyway. I had a couple problems with their store that affected me personally in a negative way that were in no way my fault. In addition, my car is so old their warranty followed to a third battery. That one was a dud. So rather than fight with them, I went to another repair shop and asked for the best battery they had for my car with cold weather cranking power. Seems I got a good one, paid more for it but well worth it.

I've shopped there since, but their locations are way too inconvenient. I have a hard time finding stuff, especially in the grocery part, but that's not Walmart, like I am with any store I'm not familiar with.

They have great baked goods and breads. Clothes I haven't had to buy any for ages.

Never heard Obummer say any profanities off the teleprompter. Does that mean he is a serious politician?

Whether or not a politician uses profanity isn't the sole criteria that determines if he or she is a populist. Obama has more than enough negative qualities for me to dislike him despite that fact that he doesn't have a potty mouth.

What's more, I'll gladly take a conservative populist over a liberal non-populist. All things being equal, though, I don't like populism.

Exactly. Trump can’t tax the Chinese. His proposed tax will be on Americans buying Chinese goods which will only mean that prices will go up by 25% for Americans and we will have even less purchasing power.

Trump is either ignorant or a demagogue, or perhaps a little of both.

Following trump will mean a fast track to the poor house. Trump is directly taxing the poor while demagoguing China while Obama is indirectly taxing the poor while demagoguing the Rich. Either way the Americans are worst off

Sound like Trump want to increase 25% tax on Americans. Anyone who support tax increases is no conservative
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Indeed.

I’ve wondered whether Trump understands that the Chinese won’t be paying that 25% - it will be collected from the American consumer. Actually I don’t think he does.

“I shouldn’t hold grudges anyway.”

Grudges are ok...but if they hurt you instead, they’re not too useful.

What can Trump possibly be thinking?

"I'm Donald-Motherf**king-Trump! I can say whatever the f**k I want and people will kiss my motherf**king a$$ because I'm so f**cking rich!" Something along those lines anyway.

WTO helping China Loot Caterpillar
americanthinker.com ^ | 10/04/2010 | Howard Richman & Raymond Richman

"Why can’t Caterpillar make a profit exporting mini-excavators to China? The answer is simple: China has a 30% tariff on all excavators. In fact it has a similar high tariff on just about every vehicle, be it a Ford car, a GMC truck, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, or a giant mining machine made by Bucyrus International."
