A senior CBS news anchor today labelled Donald Trump's campaign to raise doubts about President Obama's school grades as an 'ugly strain of racism'.
Face The Nation host Bob Schieffer made the comments in the wake of Mr Trump's calls yesterday for Mr Obama to release college transcripts 'proving' he had the grades to enter Columbia and Harvard.
The attack came as new research suggested viewers for Celebrity Apprentice - some of the most liberal for any TV show - were deserting the program due to Mr Trump's outspoken rants against Mr Obama.
The furore came soon after the President released his full birth certificate - finally putting the question of his citizenship beyond reasonable doubt.
Yesterday Mr Trump called on the President to release his college transcripts.
Reacting to the call, Mr Schieffer said: 'That's just code for saying he got into law school because he's black. 'This is an ugly strain of racism that's running through this whole thing.'

I hope he does sue them. Just because we have a half black president doesn't mean they can run around calling everyone who disagrees with him racist. We criticized Clinton, we criticized Pelosi, etc. Sorry, but the race card won't stick where Trump is concerned. He's not off somewhere cowering in a corner like the republicans. He faced the press head on yesterday.

These numbers are from before they added a writing section to the test, when the range was from 400 to 1600, and the mean score about 1000.
This brings up the question of who is the racist? What criterion other than racism prevents the child of a Korean immigrant from being admitted to Harvard, despite straight A's and a 1540 SAT score, because his spot was taken by a kid whose parents came from Kenya (and whose ancestors thus never suffered under slavery) and who managed to get B's in high school and an SAT score of 1100. In other words, black skin gets a 440 point advantage over yellow skin.
Would it be racist for me to notice that the doctor who is scheduled to do complicated surgery on me or my loved one is Black, and might have gotten into and through med school with a wink and a nod? Would I feel more comfortable if he were Asian? The quick answer to the last question is yes. That does not make me a racist. If the average time in the 40 yard dash for black cornerbacks is 4.4 seconds, and the average for white cornerbacks is 6.4 seconds, yet the NFL mandated that every team must have one starting cornerback of each ethnicity, which one would I want to have covering my fastest receiver? That's not racist--it's common sense and basic math.
