Gallup: In U.S., More Than 6 in 10 Would Not Vote for Trump, Palin
Gallup ^ | 04/27/2011 | Frank Newport

Posted on 04/27/2011 1:16:33 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

More than 6 in 10 registered voters nationwide say they would definitely not vote for Donald Trump or Sarah Palin for president in 2012, significantly more than say the same about possible Republican candidates Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee, or about President Barack Obama.

None of the four potential Republican candidates measured in the April 20-23 USA Today/Gallup poll has officially announced that he or she is running for president, although none has ruled out a possible candidacy. Trump, however, has been highly visible in recent weeks, talking openly about the possibility of a presidential bid while focusing heavily on the issue of President Obama's birthplace.

The majority of U.S. voters at this point do not appear receptive to a Trump presidency. Sixty-four percent of registered voters have essentially rejected the television personality and businessman, saying they would definitely not vote for him. That leaves Trump with 7% of voters who say they definitely would vote for him, and another 28% who say they might consider it.

About as many voters nationwide (65%) say they would definitely not vote for former vice presidential candidate, former Alaska governor, and current television personality Palin.

President Obama fares better than any of the four Republican candidates on this measure. Fifty-four percent of registered voters say they would consider voting for Obama, including 31% who would definitely vote for him, while 46% say they would definitely not vote for him.

Romney and Huckabee are in somewhat more positive positions than either Trump or Palin, but neither is positioned as well as Obama. Less than half of registered voters say they would definitely not vote for either of these two possible GOP candidates.

Almost Half of Republicans Definitely Would Not Vote for Trump

Donald Trump did say that he might consider a third party run if he does not get the GOP nomination.

If he does, the Perot effect comes into play, hello again President Obama.

Translation: Those two prospective candidates are not approved for us peasants by the MSM.

Don’t blame them. I wouldn’t either...I love Palin, but I’d actually like to DEFEAT Obama, and neither she or Trump (who is a complete clown that wants universal healthcare among other things) can defeat him.

I’m happy to settle for someone that isn’t 100% pure conservative if it means defeating a guaranteed 100% liberal joke like Obama. Otherwise, we’re going to nominate someone that is ultra conservative and he’ll get clobbered in 2012 and we’re stuck with Obama.

Have to pick your battles and the number one battle should be to beat this guy.

The real question is, who are the F’n morons willing to vote for Obama again?

I saw some report on previous polls this far in advance of elections. President Lieberman? President Giuliani? On and on. This stuff means less than nothing.

Yep. I bet he does, too, once he fails to get the GOP nomination. If it comes to pass, the GOP might as well go back to its old habit of nominating the next old white RINO in the line, because it shouldn't waste good blood on a losing cause... because there's no beating 0bama with Trump sitting out there running third party.

Not a problem for the Bachmann-Jindal ticket... or the Bachmann-Cain ticket. I’d love to see Michelle Bachmann and Herman Cain run for office just to see the heads explode at the New York Times and NPR.

It must be so frustrating for state-run media that their fake polls don’t change anything anymore.

Hahaha, Gallup predicted we’d have President Howard Dean and President Kerry too.

Hey liberals, don’t read too much into these polling numbers! And yes, I’m talking to some of the people who have posted on THIS very thread.

You think you're going to defeat Obama with Romney, Daniels, Pawlenty or Huckabee?

I'll put this in perspective. John McCain would be a better candidate than the four I've mentioned.

Yeah. And at this time in the ‘08 election cycle, it was a Hitlery/ Romney race. Fred Thompson was also supposed to be the Conservative savior and needed to get in the race. How did all that turn out? Why don’t we lay off the hand wringing until after we have a GOP debate or two.

Gallop is at it again with those phony polls.

I’ve herd women say they don’t like Palin. However, would they vote to retain Obama for another term. The same women say not a chance.

Palin is a winner, and an American, with a valid, non-layered, American birth certificate.

Trumps BC wasn’t layered either. Why is obama’s layered?

If the GOP doesn't nominate a solid conservative you could see the Tea Party spin a third party candidate too.

If the GOP doesn't nominate a solid conservative the stay at home conservative vote could also become the unseen third party.

Means nothing until we have declared candidates, debates and a few campaign rallies to learn what each candidate will emphasize.

In the first half of 2007, Rudy had ‘commanding’ leads and McCain’s campaign had run off the tracks.

Whether I think Palin or Trump is the best candidate...

For 65% to say they won’t vote for them and then a najority would consider voting for Obama, is sad to see. Obama is a disaster.

Also almost 50% won’t vote for Obama. I think this whole poll is a coverup of that dreadful statistic for Obama.
