This may be old news, but, I just ran across this article.
It was reported recently that country music singer Hank Williams Jr. plans to run for a U.S. Senate seat in Tennessee in 2012 -- the next time a Senate seat is up in the state. An intriguing notion to say the least, but no announcement has been made yet, according to Williams's publicist.

And will he really have anything to say?
What’s next? Senator Ludacris?
III is is as real as it gets, but Jr is an original. And yes he is a Republican. Not quite as outspoken as Uncle Ted but I’d support him.
Possibly. - Lyrics to "Mr. Lincoln"
Mr. Lincoln I wish you were here. The Republic's changed a lot in a hundred years. And I don't think it's working like you planned. Oh, Mr Lincoln, we could use a hand.
I just read the headlines in The Nashville News. And I wish I'd made this up but I'm afraid it's true. 'Cause a man was murdered for his money in the streets. He was taking his wife to a nice place to eat. When they caught the man he did 23 months of time. He pled insanity like they do now all the time. Sir, what would you have done in 1859? Now if you shoot someone, Sir, you can get off scott-free. It's the latest thing, Mr. Lincoln, can you believe? Now they sue the manufacturers of the guns. Ain't the law changed a lot since 1861?
Mr. Lincoln, I wish you were here. 'Cause things have changed a lot in a hundred years. And I don't think it's working out like you planned. Hey, Mr. Lincoln, we sure could use a hand.
I just heard the news story on the radio. They let dangerous men out of prisons now, Yes, sir I'm afraid it's so. 'Cause they're overcrowded and it was only his fifth offense. This time, he's killed someone, does that make any sense? Now my lawyer called me about a nuisance case. 'Cause everybody sues over any little thing these days. Well at least we're right. All we gotta do is tell the truth. He said "You're living in the past you romantic fool." I said, "You got that right. I lean toward the older ways. And there's damn few backwoods lawyers left today."
Mr Lincoln, I wish you were here. The Republic's changed a lot in a hundred years. And I don't think it's working like you planned. Hey, Mr. Lincoln, we sure could use a hand.
Mr. Lincoln, please, could you come here? 'Cause things have changed a lot in a hundred years. And I don't think it's working out like you planned. Mr. Lincoln, we sure could use a hand.
Went drinking with hank and Jeannie Seely many years ago on Green Turtle Cay. It was fun! We ended up on his boat. Lots of good fun.
You should see Hank III sing some of Hank Sr songs.. Check it out on youtube..
Nugent resides in Texas I believe.
Hank the 3rd sounds a lot like his Grandpa. Hank Jr has a deeper voice.
Agreed on both points..
Here is what Wikipedia says:
‘On November 20, 2008, Williams announced that he will run for the U.S. Senate in 2012 as a Republican party candidate, challenging incumbent Republican Senator Bob Corker.[8] Williams was reported to have already consulted with Senator Lamar Alexander and former Senator Bill Frist, both Republicans from Tennessee.’
...in Tennessee. Thanks Catsrus.
Looks like Hank III is a doper. Did you listen to some of that?
Yikes
What a little ham, loved it!
That kid is all grown up now, but he sure was a cute little thing. LOL
Nugent is from Michigan. But he now lives near Kerrville, TX.
That’s merely reiterating what was in the article (which came out the same week), however there has been no firm declaration nor anything else in the 2 1/2 years since. Corker has just one minor candidate challenging him (a Republican with a dead website) and nobody else. If Williams were challenging him, it would be a big news story, especially here in Nashville.
