Teens flunking climate change
Minneapolis Star-Tribune ^ | April 19, 2011 | by: Josephine Marcotty

This survey of teen attitudes and understanding about its causes and consequences is enlightening. Turns out more than half would flunk a test on climate change.

They found that 54 percent of the kids believe that global warming is happening, but many do not understand why. In this assessment, only 6 percent of teens would get an A or a B if they were tested on their knowledge, and 41 percent would receive a C or D. 54 percent would get an F.

But they do understand some things better than adults. For example:

* 57% of teens understand that global warming is caused mostly by human activities, compared to 50% of adults;

* 77% of teens understand that the greenhouse effect refers to gases in the atmosphere that trap heat, compared to 66% of adults;

* 52% of teens understand that carbon dioxide traps heat from the Earth’s surface, compared to 45% of adults;

* 71% of teens understand that carbon dioxide is produced by the burning of fossil fuels, compared to 67% of adults.

* 54% of teens say that global warming is happening, compared to 63% of adults;

* 35% of teens understand that most scientists think global warming is happening, compared to 39% of adults;

* 46% of teens understand that emissions from cars and trucks substantially contribute to global warming, compared to 49% of adults;

* 17-18% have heard of coral bleaching or ocean acidification, compared to 25% of adults.

Good. Maybe they are not brainwashed as the Minneapolis Red-Star Tribune wants them be.

I find it hard to understand what the specific, verifiable claims of the Warmist are.

I think the “teens” will do better once they grow up, start paying taxes and start paying attention to the EPA destroying their future and the future of their country. Right now, they should just be “teens”. You know. Sports, dating, etc.

I note that they use the word “understand” a lot. This is supposed to be a neutral word, but it implies “believe”, as in either “I can prove it” or “I have faith that...”.

This new religion of Gaia cannot prove anthropogenic global warming, so they treat it as a religion that cannot be questioned.

Apparently the teens understand better than the socialist liar who wrote this. Obviously a true believer in the religion of statism and one of its subcults - man caused global warming*, she isn't going to let reality get in the way of her secular faith. What does a moron look like?

*Stuart Chase (slightly paraphrased) Said about true believers, For the true beliver , no proof is necessary, and no disproof possible.

Why?

To me it seems the future is brighter than the present. Perhaps warmer too XD

I’m sure glad those evil SUVs and power plants caused the Global Warming that ended the Earth’s many ice ages. I’d hate to be living under a mile of ice.

When Gore first started with this warming cr**, Hillary said the object was to get children involved in politics.

Our schools became the brainwashing machine. Alas, they're probably a little disappointed by this report.

But remember, they also teach kill the babies, love the fag, eat as I say....

Schools have become a political machine.
