Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed a bill Monday that would have required presidential candidates to provide their birth certificates to appear on the ballot, and another that would have allowed guns to be carried on school grounds.

What the DNC is now can’t be spoken in polite company. That Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is now the head does give a clue, however.

No, the bill asked for a birth certificate. I've read the language in the bill, and it didn't require a candidate to prove that they are a Natural Born Citizen, per the Framers' understanding of the term.
What's the point of providing a birth certificate, if all it does is prove who you are? Obama's COLB would serve, under the strict language contained in that Arizona bill.
Given these facts, I can't say that I'm upset with Brewer for vetoing it. As written, the bill didn't accomplish what we want it to.

LOL.
So the short form is not acceptable to you? Well it is for ALL government offices.
And that notice that was printed in the newspaper way back in 1961? What was that? Some grand conspiracy?
LOL. You wouldn’t take anything as evidence.

Haven’t heard Seel (author) interviewed yet (after the veto), but I heard him pre-veto, he sounded sincere and serious.
What happened to Oklahoma? They were on AZ’s tail on this.

Thanks for the link, Red.
She sounds rather ‘stammery’. Also used another liberal cliche: “..get on with the State’s business...” [ somewhat paraphrased]
All things considered, It’s kind of surprising she didn’t add on in her blurb that this bill wouldn’t be helping Michelle’s chiiiildren.

I think you guessed her reason for veto. I would have been leery of such a possibility/probability.
To: JRochelle
The short form, which is just a derivative of the BC itself, is OK as long as there exists an original birth certificate.
This isn’t about me accepting a COLB as evidence. Even Fukino, in the past has refused to verify the authenticity of that COLB. (Ask butterdezillion - she’s the one who received the missive.)
Dr.R. Polland carefully analyzed the COLBs (please note the plural) and determined they were both forgeries.
As to the announcements in the newspapers, those are fake. Unfortunately you haven’t been paying attention or you would know that great effort was made to splice the film in libraries. Shame.
Neither COLB was allowed to be examined firsthand, ever!
I would certainly recognize as authentic a long-form birth certificate signed off as accepted and filed by the Hawaiian Department of Health. But I know for a fact — Obama doesn’t have one because he was born in Mombassa, Kenya.

"As a former Secretary of State (sic), I do not support designating one person as the gatekeeper to the ballot for a candidate, which could lead to artibrary or politically-motivated decisions," Brewer wrote in her veto message to House Speaker Kirk Adams. How could it lead to the Secretary of State being the gatekeeper? It's not like he/she is looking at a myriad of factors and then deciding whether to put a candidate on the ballot. He/she is merely checking to ensure that the candidate is born in this country. That's it, and ensuring that a person on the ballot is a natural born citizen is Constitutional.
To: EternalVigilance
Why do we need a bill in order to get our elected officials to simply follow the imperative requirements of our Constitution? This. We shouldn't even need a bill.

Who got to her?
The usual suspects...

Remember Jan Brewer WAS the Arizona Secretary of State for the 2008 Presidential election. SHE validated the usurper on Arizona's ballot. --
That explains the veto. She's invested in a finding that Obama is qualified, and that dual citizens at birth are qualified.

Please don't buy the Pollard silliness. Regardless of what one may or may not believe about Obama, Pollard is a clearly demonstrated fraud, no ifs, ands or buts about it. He's even been driven off previous threads here by true believers in the birther cause.
To: tired_old_conservative
I don’t know who Pollard is.

LOL. She was just elected.
Good for her. The birther nonsense has got to stop. I wish she hadn’t vetoed the guns on campus bill, but glad she stopped the birther nonsense.
We lose elections because of ridiculous conspiracy nutjob antics like the birthers.

a horse cannot be a natural born sea horse..meaning Obama cannot be a natural born citizen no matter how much you wish he were.
