Donald Trump's tallest construction project ever is facing some tall challenges.
Many real-estate developers are under pressure these days as lenders and investors rush to cut their exposure to the market. But Mr. Trump's 92-story Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago, which will be the tallest building constructed in the U.S. since the Sears Tower opened in 1973, may be especially vulnerable because it's getting hit by a triple whammy of colliding forces: the credit crunch, the reversal in the housing market and weak retail sales.
The shiny glass skyscraper is one of the few that the brash Mr. Trump developed without partners. The situation also puts pressure on one of the project's major lenders, Fortress Investment Group LLC.

Soros funded McCain for years...and who did you vote for in 2008?
Trump: “Forget Soros. Leave him alone, he’s got enough problems. Let’s talk about somebody else.”
Go to 6:10 on the video to see him say that:

George Soros bailed out Trump in 2008 for hundreds of millions of dollars.
What is the quid-pro-quo? Aren’t you interested?
I voted for the Soros Person who had Palin on the ticket as opposed to the Other Soros Person with Plugs The Plagiarizer on the ticket.
And tell us how well McCain worked out. BWAHAHAHA! You Trumpettes just can't help shooting yourselves in the foot!
And BTW, McCain was not the first choice of conservatives. We just ended up being stuck with him.
So your master plan is to nominate another Soros lackey and try again.
Brilliant!
It’s a good think these Trumpettes aren’t in sales. They’d be on food stamps.
Where in the WSJ story does it say that Soros bailed out any Trump project? Or where is the source for that?
Google “Fortress Investment Group” and “Soros” and get back to us.
I figured that no serious real estate developer would have the time, energy and patience to do a silly television show as a side gig.
How do you think we ended up with McRino? The left saw to that which includes Soros...a serpent. The left picked our candidate in 2008 and are working to pick the 2012 candidate...which would be Trump.
Grove Capital, the real estate arm of Soros Fund Management, put up a large chunk of the $160 million shortfall for the Trump Tower Chicago project in 2004. But I don’t see any mention of that in this 2008 WSJ piece.
Learn the difference between a bailout and a loan and get back to us.
If this is the only source of information, that indicates an upfront loan and not a bailout.
The situation also puts pressure on one of the project's major lenders, Fortress Investment Group LLC.
Is there some further information that this project had to be bailed out? Or is it Fortress only a lender and not some bailout provider to save a project?
Nothing provided here indicates a bailout, or even tells us what happened to the project since late 2008.
Deliberately misleading headline, or did someone fail to provide all the relevant links?
The investment and bailout funds are Soros funds except for Deutsche Bank. The Donald would have gone bankrupt without Soros bailout.
I see Ivanka pressing her hands into the cement. Good to see her seemingly doing well again. She took it pretty hard when I dumped her a few years ago.
