There were only adults in the theater where I saw this film.....that by itself should tell you a lot.....serious folks who get the message and will come out to see things that tell the truth.
This movie will help Sarah, because it shows what a strong woman can do (railroad magnate Dagny Taggart in this film..just like "Secretariat" and Miss Penny) our heroine in "Atlas Shrugged" is a woman who will not be pushed around by men in the old boy's club....
And she is not afraid of men or against men, she is against being told to "shut up and sit down".....now to the film:
EVERYONE in America needs to see this film, because it shows frankly how the media, government, (who clearly is the villain, among others it works with and for) and those in the private sector, who are their friends (portrayed by a young George Soros type) work against everything America holds dear, and it shows how they conspire together, with each group doing it's part to hold on to their collective power...make no mistake, it isn't just government, that is just the tool they use, (like the EPA, FCC, etc.) to do their bidding while a compliant media assists in keeping the people uninformed whenever needed....
They care not for innovation, progress and the better life for all Americans and by extension the world....they care about their fiefdom and their power exclusively......
Because this is part 1 of three, we do not get the satisfaction of seeing of the wrongs being righted; but rest assured my good Freeper friends: If Sarah Palin isn't elected, you will have no need for parts 2 and 3, because you will have seen where we are, and where they are going to keep us.........
It's in 300 theaters, versus the 3000+ theaters that movies in wide release generally open in. Box Office Mojo reports it getting $2,277 per screen, which is pretty good (the current #1, Rio, is doing $2,666 per screen, but on 3,826 screens).
If Atlas' numbers are sustained through the end of the weekend, then it will likely be in wide release next week. This is why all Freepers should go see it this weekend.
Besides, its a great movie (saw it yesterday).
The language was okay, but something I noticed in the film that was not a feature in the book was the drinking. No one gets drunk, but it seems that in nearly every scene the characters are sipping wine or a highball. This was the only departure from the book that I noticed, and I wondered why the director chose to highlight this.
I have not had a chance to see the movie yet, but I wonder if the director chose to de-emphasize smoking and instead emphasize drinking? If I recall correctly, Rand included a lot of smoking in her novels. Can’t have that nowadays.
I read the Foutainhead, We the Living, Anthem, Atlas Shrugs all in the 60’s many years ago. Set my path for life. I will never forget Ayn Rand. Too many expected her to be perfect. She wasn’t but had great ideas just the same.

I saw it Friday night in downtown Birmingham, Michigan in Oakland county. Oakland county used to be one of the wealthier counties in the U.S.A. Birmingham is still one of the most affluent cities in Michigan. Lots of wealthy job creators/producers live there. (Lots of General Motors/auto company managers...oh, the irony) There was applause at the opening and applause at the end. It was good.
In the enjoyment of life, liberty and the pursuit of your dreams it may be necessary to take the time to pursue and and destroy totalitiarians. On the other hand (the choices of fight or flight), you can go Galt. What if there is no Galt’s Gulch to retreat to?

The message of Atlas Shrugged is such that it should especially appeal to young people, and since the text is so massively impenetrable at times, the motion picture was the perfect way to approach them. So I do not see this as good news.
I intend to see this movie.

Palin's support of the Libya fiasco sealed the deal for me - I will not support her or vote for her if she seeks the GOP nomination for prez. Her knee-jerk reaction to any international situation seems to be "bomb, attack, invade!"
She appeared to have a very good record as a mayor and governor, but the use of the military should be the option of last resort and should be clearly in the nation's best interests, and Libya, like Iraq and the occupation of Afghanistan, does not meet that criteria.
If you threw the book in the trash you won’t like the movie. Save your money and see the next family friendly Disney flick.

That only happened at a meal or at a party - nearly every scene???
When you go, please examine the ticket to ensure that Atlas Shrugged actually gets the credit and money for your attendance. When The Passion was out several years ago, funds got diverted to other movies by theater employees that wanted to damage the results for their own personal reasons.
I noticed no cursing, only one small scene of suggested intimacy done very tastefully.....easily a family show, great for young ladies, but check it yourself first.
I have to be honest....today’s kids are raised on American Idol and don’t think about anything but the opposite sex....they are groomed to be shallow and thoughtless unless they have good parents......
Every ad that appears is based on getting the girl/guy and in such a culture it is not surprising that the theater only had adults, though fortunately some of them younger....
I have people I think of as friends that regularly watch the networks......how can you expect them to care about the evil this communist group of unions and democrats is doing to our country
If the seniors don’t save us, the kids will not know what happened to them.....
IMHO Sarah Palin is our only hope for President.

It was a Counter - Counter movement
for example the Broadway play Godspell
was a much gentler answer to Jesus Christ, Superstar and Tommy

I viewed Woodstock as a microcosm of the times
It was many things at once, like people,

those who Served Honorably, Responding to a Draft
those who Died, or were Missing in Action
those who were Spit on and Reviled,
just when their need for Healing was Greatest

If Palin’s the hope, you’ve got Obama for four more. And the entire point of addressing the Hollywood issue is that there has to be a way to make the conservative, independent message appealing to kids. They are after all rebellious by nature. It shouldn’t be hard. That’s why my little film company is focused on doing.
