President Barack Obama surprised visitors at the Lincoln Memorial Saturday as he shook hands and greeted visitors.
The president remarked that the monument is open because of efforts to prevent a government shutdown Friday night and expressed his hope that bipartisan cooperation continues.

And, just HOW do you shut down the Lincoln Memorial? It’s not like a carnival ride...you just walk up the steps and walk around, read the Address etc. There are no moving parts, no admission...just the steps and the statue.

I’m going to visit the memorial on Tuesday. Obama had better not show up. He’s disgusting and I might tell him so!

I read the CNN news article and comments and thot I was in the twilight zone. So glad to see sanity here! I am certain the Lincoln Memorial would not have shutdown, what was his point? Oh, another tax-payer funded campaign stop. I thot the comments below the article were shamelessly contrived by his 2012 campaign staff. I have seen too many ABC, CBS, etc. articles with negative comments running about 80% Obviously, CNN is now the campaign arm to the re-election campaign. Figures.
