In-N-Out Burgers vs. Five Guys
Me | 4/8/11 | Oh, the huge vanity

Posted on 04/08/2011 9:32:29 PM PDT by Mike Darancette

5 guys just moved into town which is better In-N-Out Burgers or Five Guys?

From what I hear 5 Guys is better but for fries, shakes, burger taste and prices. What say you all.

I have never eaten at 5 Guys, but In-n-Out, good tasting that it is, tends to be a little bit salty in my opinion. I think that is because the size and shape of the patty is thin at 1/4 pound before cooking. So the salt tends to stay at the surface. When you bring the size of the patty up to 1/3 lb, it stays juicier and meatier. Many of the new “gourmet” places including The Counter (which is becoming quite popular and growing very fast as a chain/franchise in the So Cal area) have taken to the 1/3 pound patty.

When I make Burgers at home, I make them around 1/3 pound, always have. I just like them meatier, thicker, fleshy.

Never heard of 5 Guys. In and Out does fresh burgers and fresh cut fries. They have a limited menu..

One better than In and Out is Fuddruckers. Great fresh ground round..but, it’s not a fast food setting.

I’ve had the opportunity to try both in the last month and my vote goes to 5 guys! :)

Secret menu. Extra pickles, extra spread, fried onions, burgers grilled in mustard. Ridiculously good. Throw in some well-done fries and you’re golden.

Internet picture doesn’t look that good, but I will give them a go.

No location near me, but next chance I get I am going to hook up with one of them.

Five Guys! Delicious juicy burgers, huge portion of fresh fries made from scratch in store and awesome atmosphere. Loud, great music and people who love burgers.

Now I need to go to my local five guys soon.

I stopped eating at fast food establishments when the state took control over the oil that my fries are cooked in. I hate the taste of plastic

Maybe I will go back after they outlaw my ability to buy lard and potatoes.

Fuddruckers, really?

They must have really turned their business around, last time I was in there they served me up a burger that looked like it was a week old fried in lard.

That was about 4-5 years ago, never been there since. There is one not far from me, I will go give them another chance.

In Hollywood, I live 5 blocks away from the In N Out Burger which got Paris Hilton into trouble 3 years ago. Her quote for drunk driving? “All I wanted to do was go to In N Out..”

True story. On the other side is Sta Monica Blvd the 5 minute drive to Fat Burger, and right across it is Astro Burger, which is underrated.

Either way, with In N out it’s fresh fries because you see them peeling the potato/s and grabbing the meat from the fridge...not frisbee patties like McD’s.

In the Seattle area it is tough to beat Red Robin or Kidd Valley. Real fruit shakes, great fries. great burgers.

I went to Canada and discovered the greatness of Harvey’s....they rival In N Out, sadly they’re only in Canada.
