This poll is poop, but I do believe her negatives still exceed the favorables. Her ability to move those numbers will depend on the reason for the negatives. Some are actually policy based, others are on a media created misperception. Time is wasting, as they say, for her to shift the dynamic in her favor.

I see this poll for what it is, another lame MSM attempt to choose and/or eliminate a Republican nominee.

i’m pretty certain that if i take my political cues from the left, i will end up with a leftie candidate

therefore, anyone they endorse, i should be against. check

Whew, she’s got a lot of enemies. Just about everything she’s said is conservative common sense. Is this an era where nobody wants to hear the truth?

Too few people in the general public actually ever hear Sarah these days. Just the Pantomime Sarah that has been cooked-up by the MSM and Saturday Night Live. The polls are reflecting that.

.... “ I think she peaked too early, .....”

You hit the nail on the head. That may be why she has all but disappeared with both hands. But, more likely in such deafening silence, she is not running. Conservatives generally are the marrying kind and we don’t want to date forever. So far, Sarah has been seen just wanting to date.

People get fussy when I say it, but Palin had four years to make some money AND go to school, so to speak, and come back with a real, mean, fluent campaign, and show off her skills capable of standing alone in the enemy camp media. She made the money. I can’t blame her. She diverted to fattening the family bank account, was seen skipping stones to promote Alaska and propped up Bristol.

Since by now she isn’t even starting to arrange a wedding, I would say we’ve probably broken up. It’s now palpable.

Those numbers don’t look very believable.

The same poll has Obama with a +14 approval rating. Given his approval ratings in other polls, that isn't credible, either.

You would think she caused a plague or something.

I know her supporters on here don’t believe it but she is EXTREMELY unpopular outside of the Tea Party and Freerepublic. I know strong consistent conservatives who get all bug eyed and apoplectic at the prospect of her candidacy for the GOP nomination. Personally, I like Palin but hope she never runs for the White House because she doesn’t have a snow ball’s chance in hell.

The “Dancing With the Stars” and “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” did her in. I dont see how she can recover from those debacles to be a good candidate. She needs some more serious roles for another decade before she can be taken seriously. I was a huge fan too!

I don’t know that she has the time to change perception and more important that the press that fears her will allow that perception to change.

There has never before been a Republican candidate with the skill and moxie to do hand-to-hand combat with the MSM...and win.

So far as her negatives, does anybody believe that she (or any Republican) would get a single vote from the far left? The fact that they already universally hate her is a badge of honor.

Like most Freepers, I like polls that show 'my' candidate ahead or polling well and I tend to dismiss polls that go the other way. In this case, realizing the power of the leftmedia to influence people who don't follow politics, I can believe that Sarah Palin probably doesn't poll well due to over two years of non-stop trashing of the woman in the media. That has to take a toll. I also think Palin could overcome it if she decided to run for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. Ronald Reagan did it in 1980 and so did George W. Bush in 2004, albeit in Bushs' case, with the benefit of being president and having a Democrat opponent that came off as a reincarnation of Thurston B. Howell, III. Heck, even Harry Truman had dismal poll numbers prior to his fought-for nomination by his party and was widely predicted to lose to Dewey in the 1948 presidential election, especially with a third party candidate (Strom Thurmond) in the running. We all know how that worked out.

However, I still question the accuracy of this and other polls that consistently show Sarah Palin as widely unpopular. She's sold millions of books and an appearance by Palin sells out in minutes, yet, according to the polls, she's unpopular. Something is wrong here. I tend to find these negative polls suspect and not truly representative of American's opinion of Sarah Palin who has done nothing to justify the kind of low numbers she receives in these polls but who has been demonized, vilified and mocked by the left and it's media water carriers for over 2½ years. I still contend that, despite the media's attempts to marginalize her, Sarah Palin's common sense, conservative proposals and notable charisma can win over voters disgusted and disappointed with Obama and the Democrats and ready to accept a woman president and her plans to restore our nation to it's former greatness that Obama and the Democrats never much liked and have tried to destroy for the past 5 years. That stated, I hope she decides to run.

This poll is 1,000 adults. And I wallowed through the whole thing and could not find internals as to the splits by party.

"Statistics for Dummies"

If the methodology isn't published the poll is probably garbage. Additionally you have already identified a major weakness in the sample. But haters are gonna hate and even look for any opportunities to do so.

Palin's negatives are real.

She will never will a national election because of jealous women and blacks. They hate her.

If we write her off, aren't we letting the media nominate our candidate? Again?

I thought 60% of the people saw her unfavorable? 53% unfav isn’t bad for taking 3 years of non stop attacks from the RNC,DNC and MSM.

Thanks for going to the trouble. Adults...no party ID...kinda proves that the study was designed to produce the results that it did.
