'Unprecedented' level of violence in Mexico: FBI
Yahoo ^ | 4/6/11 | AFP

Posted on 04/06/2011 5:12:33 PM PDT by NormsRevenge

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Using unusually blunt language, FBI Director Robert Mueller told US legislators on Capitol Hill Wednesday that there is an "unprecedented" level of violence in Mexico linked to the country's drug wars.

"I would not call it a full-scale war," Mueller told members of the House of Representatives as he discussed his agency's 2012 budget.

"I would say there are full-scale warring factions that utilize homicide as a mechanism of retaliation, staking out one's turf, retribution, that have contributed substantially to the number of deaths in Mexico," Mueller said.

There have been some 35,000 homicides in the past four years, Mueller said.

"I think it's fair to say that it's unprecedented," he said. "The last couple of years, I think, have been particularly bad."

The frank words are uncommon for a senior US official: the US ambassador to Mexico resigned in March after Mexican President Felipe Calderon said diplomatic cables written by the envoy -- in which he depicted the Mexican military leadership as unprepared for the war on drugs -- damaged bilateral ties.

And Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in September had to back off of comments that the Mexican drug cartels "are showing more and more indices of insurgencies," and that the country is "looking more and more like Colombia looked 20 years ago, when the narcotraffickers controlled certain parts of the country."

Even though the Mexican military and police "have undertaken substantial efforts" to address the violence, "it's certainly not under control at this point," Mueller said.

People make poor decisions in life and bad things happen to them as a result. However, robbing others of their freedoms isn't going to fix that problem. What problem has the Nanny State ever fixed? The War on Drugs has been raging throughout your sister's life. Has it helped her at all?

You are not trading liberty for safety from dangerous drugs; you are giving it away to those who simply want power. You're getting played.

I’m not getting played.

My sis and BIL were addicts. I’ve seen firsthand the destruction drugs can do to children abandoned by drug addicted parents.

I like Singapore’s solution.

And how were they helped by the War on Drugs?

Deserves repeating: “If Americans did not provide the demand, there would be no need for a supply.”

Mexico is a failed nation. It is time for the United States to invade and take over their natural resources.

Eight years of "doing the jobs Americans won't do" has brought our nation to the brink. Thanks George, hope your grandchildren appreciate it.

And for all you people who want to blame the United States for "creating" the demand for illegal drugs give me a break. The DRUG WAR is nothing more than a power grab and has solved nothing. There has always been the demand no matter where the drugs come from. There are lots of politicians, lawyers, judges, etc....helping to create this demand also.

How exactly are you going to prosecute them?

Time to invade Mexico(((ping)))!

Project GunWalker bailed out the cartels, as far as weapons. Taxpayer cash, via our leaders in D.C. goes to medico (new spelling for mexico). Do our leaders in D.C. believe the cartels are too big to fail? Looks to be....imho

most all of the killing there and in certain other latin american countries is directly related to various Satanic, Ritualistic types of Cult Gangs....
"According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization",,,."

It has certainly succeeded with a vengeance too, America is full of people who, in the words of my late mother, “Can’t see past the end of their own noses.”

America is full of people who, in the words of my late mother, “Can’t see past the end of their own noses.”

Who’s winning American Idol and Dancing with the Stars between commercials for Viagra and Sleeping pills?... THAT’s what important to the McSheeple.

When the moral compass of the individual citizenry looses calibration and starts spinning - TSHTF. It’s historically observable and predictable.

Observe the implosion of the US Economy because of the “Liar Loan” — and the ready supply of immoral Liars, even here on FR, who can't/won't connect the dots of demoralized cause and effect.

The rotors are nearly up to speed.

I didn’t say it was harmless. My personal belief is that the damage done to our liberties in the name of protecting us from ourselves outweighs the benefits of outlawing drugs.

I believe that is about the same level as Afghnistan or even Libya.
