Pastor had sex with teens to cure their homosexuality
WI Gazette ^ | March 25, 2011

Posted on 03/30/2011 8:34:47 PM PDT by Neil E. Wright

Brent_Girouex- A former youth pastor in Council Bluffs, Iowa, says he had sex with teenage boys because it was his pastoral duty “to help (the teen) with homosexual urges bypraying while he had sexual contact with him.”

But law enforcement has a different view of his actions. Earlier this month, Brent Girouex, 31, was arrested on 60 counts of suspicion of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist, reported The Daily Nonpareil.

In February, Girouex told Council Bluffs police detectives that he had sexual contact with four young men starting in 2007 in order to help them gain “sexual purity in the eyes of God.”

But Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber told the Nonpareil that at least eight men have come forward with complaints that Girouex molested them.

Court documents indicated Girouex told investigators the most sexual contact he had was with one teen over a four-year period, starting when the boy was 14 years old. Calling the contact “mutual,” he said it had occurred between “25 and 50 times” during that period.

When investigators spoke to the teen, who’s now an adult, he told them the number was between 50 and 100.

Three other young men who were teenagers when the incidents occurred told investigators the sex occurred at Girouex’s home. All said they went to be helped with “sexual purity.”

“When they would ejaculate, they would be getting rid of the evil thoughts in their mind,” Girouex allegedly told detectives.

Wilber said investigators are following leads to see if there are more victims. Girouex is currently free on $30,000 bond.

“to help (the teen) with homosexual urges bypraying while he had sexual contact with him.”

Waddyaknow -- the OPC/PCA prays for this?

Why do you freely allow such a large percentage (>3%) of your pastors to go about molesting kids?

As always, it’s a good idea to pray for the victims and abuser.

Yes, that's what we always do whether the victims or abusers are Presbyterian, non-denominational, catholic, boy-scouts, masters, teachers, whatever.

In his book Pedophiles and Priests, Prof. Philip Jenkins—a Protestant and an expert in the subject of pedophilia—stated, "The most-quoted survey of sexual problems among Protestant clergy states that some ten percent are involved in sexual misconduct of some kind, and that 'about two or three percent' are pedophiles, a rate equal or higher than that suggested for Catholic priests. These figures should be viewed skeptically; the methodology on which they are based is not clear, and they seem to rely disproportionately on individuals already in therapy. However, it is striking to find such a relatively high number suggested for both celibate and non-celibate clergy" (pp. 50-51)

The numbers would be higher among small cults like the OPC (what's the percentage Dr. eck, really? 5%, 15%?) that hide this from the news by hushing the victims.

Us Christians (Baptists, Pentecostals, Catholic-Orthodox, Anglicans, Lutherans, Methodists etc) in contrary to the OPC/PCA etc (take note Gamecock, Alex etc) pray for the victims and the accused -- only non-Christian cults such as your groups, leftist organizations take glee in these horrible acts.

Now, come clean Dr. Eckleburg -- don't use the OPC obfuscation and tell us the real percentage of molestations in the OPC. It may have just 10,000 adults and 10,000 kids, but the molestation rate of 5 to 15% is horrendous.

We Christians (Baptists, Catholic-Orthodox, Lutherans, Pentecostals, Anglicans, Methodists etc.) will pray for the victims of sexual abuse including those numbers molested by OPC pastors.

In Roman times (not sure about the Greeks) it was the height of “prestige” to have a boy as your lover. All of the high ranking Senators seemed to have a catamite.

A general question, that has nothing to do with religion:

Is there good quality data on the percentage of adult male homosexuals who are pederasts or pedophiles?

If he was really trying to help, he would have also hired them female prostitutes, for them to compare the experiences, while he prayed. /sarc

Pray that he meets The Lord very soon, so Jesus can explain the fallacy of his reasoning to him.

lolol. You mean THIS Prof. Philip Jenkins? From wikipedia here (with references at the site)...

In 2002 Jenkins, who is an Episcopalian, discussed the Catholic sex abuse cases, asserting that "[his] research of cases over the past 20 years indicates no evidence whatever that Catholic or other celibate clergy are any more likely to be involved in misconduct or abuse than clergy of any other denomination—or indeed, than non-clergy. However determined news media may be to see this affair as a crisis of celibacy, the charge is just unsupported."[7]

In a 2010 interview with National Public Radio Jenkins stated that he believes "the Islamic scriptures in the Qur'an were actually far less bloody and less violent than those in the Bible", citing explicit instructions in the Old Testament calling for genocide while the Qur'an calls for primarily defensive war. Jenkins went on to state that Islam, Judaism and Christianity had undergone a process he refers to as "holy amnesia" in which violence in sacred texts become symbolic action against one's sins. Islam had until recently also undergone the same process, in which jihad became an internal struggle rather than war.[8]

lol. Yeah. That's one smart "authority," Cronos. His "findings" are ludicrous.

Much like your posts.

Note -- we Christians pray to God. I don't know what you OPC types pray to, but it certainly ain't the Christian God.

Dr. eck -- it is good manners to copy someone (Mr Edd) when you refer to him. But good manners is something I've come to not expect in comments from your group.

MrEdd;WhyisaTexasgirlinPA; ExGeeEye --> do note that Dr. Eck's group is not Christian as it preaches a polytheistic anti-Christian theology, it may have 20,000 members only yet presumes to speak for all Protestants.

This is illogical -- Protestants are Christians while her group is not.

Dr. Eck -- tell your group to stop the pretence, we know that your group preaches hatred against all Christians -- calling Methodists and Pentecostals damned and Lutherans as false among other things and accusing them of worshipping a Satanic gospel (horrendous!) as well as preaching anti-semitism and also condemning Shahbaz Bhatti (the Christian martyr in Pakistan -- according to the OPC he's going to hell as he wasn't OPC)(see my profile for a compilation from their doctrinal website and various OPC posters outlining their faith which is based on hate)

The OPC must stop the pretence -- we see that your group pretends to be Protestant so it can cause inter-Christian fights. We Christians remember that many like Hank Kerchief were exposed for being anti-Christian and just seeking to cause discord among Christians -- what is the aim?

The aim of her group/clique is to destroy unity among Christians.

Personally, I think cronos is searching for a new church. And obsessed mostly in you, Dr E and Gamecock. I scroll on by and see your names in most of them. Weird.

Church jumping, thread jumping, all over the places. Signs of deep unrest.

Good night, good morning, good afternoon - where ever you are.

Maybe the problem is that you ended up in the middle of an ongoing discussion where various Roman Catholics have insisted that Protestantism is not a valid religion, theology, worldview or Christian faith, but is, instead, made up of "30,000 cults."

The original comment was...

“Protestant” is a denomination in exactly the same way “foreign” is a nationality.”

That was a crack.

If the line had read...

“Protestant” is a denomination in exactly the same way “Swedish” is a nationality,”

there would have been no criticism of it.
