The abuses by Shah-an-Shah [King of Kings] Mohammad Reza Pahlevi and savak grew to almost supernatural proportions. Many thousands of ordinary iranians were “disappeared’ or murdered outright for the slightest perceived slur against the shah, real or not. You could not even whisper his name without savak knowing. Retaliation against these “crimes of thought” were horrendous. Whole families disappeared never to be seen again. Torture was commonplace and almost routine.

That is absolute garbage of supernatural proportions. When will people who have influenced you cease to spread such rubbish? Most likely, Never. Had the Shah, and even the incompetent Savak done a fraction of all those things you mention, there would've been no Khomeini et al, No MeK (aka MKO), and no Islamic Revolution, which Carter & most Western gov'ts supported - that is a fact.

And, Yes, the CIA does support the Mullahs' regime. Because as long as Iran is under the thumb of an extraordinarily repressive regime such as the mullahs', the Western gov'ts get their fix of oil, they do not care. Unlike the Mullahs' regime, and contrary to the anti-monarchy info you so liberally spread, the Shah, whilst having pro-modernization & pro-Western policies, was NEVER a puppet of the West. Take a good look around in the USA today, you'll see many pro-mullah, Islamist & leftist grps together with their "reformists" & ideological affiliates around, right up to the WH - much more than they were in the USA before 1979 revolution in Iran. Worry & write about them.

Are YOU insane??? Where, in any post that I have ever posted on this, or any other thread, even come remotely CLOSE to declaring that the Iranian people WANT to live under the mullahs?
Au contraire, mon cher. I said the corrupt shah was the REASON the demonic mullahs ever came to power in the first place. Frying pan, meet fire.

And among “normal” Americans, you won’t see ANY support for the mullahs.
And among expat Iranians, you don’t see so much support for the pahlevis either. Kindly ‘splain that to me, if you would.

Oh...and I never said the Iranan people wanted to live under the MEK either. What I posted was the explanation, which is different than the assumption posted earlier, for WHY the MEK was attacked at THIS time IN iraq, BY iraqis, ON iran’s behalf and WHY US forces were told to stand down by THIS administration. I did not advocate on their behalf. Did not EVEN say I support them. Never took a side in this madness.
If anything, it damns BOTH iran and this administration.
